Pixma MP 210 printer head alignment. I have followed the manual to the letter and I can print out the alignment value and head alignment for the printer but it seems that the part of the program that allows the actual adjustment of the values A-L +5 to -5 is missing. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled from the Canon disk with no change. The prints are blurred and illegible in B&W. I have done this before with a Pixma MP160 and know the routine. Am I missing something? Can you help?

Did you press the maintenance button until P shows on the display then press black or color button to get the the alignment procedure? Did it print the entire sheet? Please let me know if you still can get the alignment to work.
Just as a reminder, setting the thickness improperly could cause quality problems. So as dirty print head.

I have encountered a problem with my new (3 month old) canon printer (2 cartridges: 1 black, 1 white).
I have had my cartridges refilled at a location that specializes in such practices, and it worked for a week (I pritnted less than 10 pages, draft)... however a couple of days ago it started prompting me with the following message each time I initiate a printing routine: ''The following ink cartridge cannot be recognized: Color'' (good ol' eroor E,1,5 on the display).
I took out and repositioned both cardridges (both at one time, in parallel, aso.), with or without reset, I reinstalled the drivers... and everythhing with no success.
I understand that this might mean buying a new genuine Canon color cartridge, but firstly I would like to ask you if any of you guys managed to get the printer working oinly on the black cartridge, because I really do not need the color one, but only the black cartridge. I have tried modifying the ink cartridge settrings form printer preferences in ctrl panel with no luck, the same error message arises. Does it really not work unless both cartridges are functional?!
thanks,
mike
