Hi,
I have been repairing sewing machines for a couple of years, and it seems to me that if it is old and not a Singer then it is a White. Research vintage/old White sewing machine on line and you can probably find a threading diagram.
Good luck,
Bob

How do I fix top tread breakage on a white model 935

The top thread breaks

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

I have a singer model 3116 and the tread keeps getting bogged down on the back. how do i fix this problem?

You need to rethread, now put the presser foot up, pull on the top thread. then lower the presser foot, pull on the top thread, it should barely move. This should seat your thread in the tension discs. Also, make sure that you have a fresh needle inserted the right way, flat side to the rear of the machine. Good luck

Top tread bird nesting.

When you say top thread nesting, I supose you mean that the thread is messed up at the top of the needle plate.
If so,
1st, either your bobbin thread is completely loose, or the bobbin thread is not held under the bobbin case spring,
or lint has been accumulated under the bobbin case spring.
2nd, the top thread is very tight,

or both.
