Problem for Hitachi 50UX57B 50 in. Rear Projection Television

Screen blinks and then goes out. tap on side and causes flickers

My screen works fine and then about 2 minutes later flickers and goes out. No picture or audio. A bump on the side of the cabinet makes the screen flicker. Unplugging it, waiting 2 minutes and plugging it back in helps.

sure sounds like loose solder joints, look for them in the deflection circuit, just find the hard plastic encapsulated body with the thick red wire sticking out of it thats where usually the loose solder joints develop.
