Gateway laptop mt6711 turns on but will not boot

The computer turns on starts to boot up but just sits there. At one point the computer displayed a sign saying that there was a problem with windows but flashed so quickly that I could not read the whole thing. I put the restore disk in to try to fix it by reloading windows but that's not working either. I will next try to remove the battery and see if that does anything. Help!

I doubt the laptop is under warranty since it was bought in 07. It might be the problem though.

Sounds like its the Hard Drive itself that is not working. Is your laptop still under warranty you may be able to have them ship you out a new HD.

Hello there:
if you can launch the system in safe mode and then go to system restore and restore the system back to just before the time when you started noticing the problems than after that uninstall anything that you may have installed around that time frame, like games or online downloads antiviruses ect ect ok?
best regards mike

How to turn off safe mode?

When booting up computer constantly tap F12. until you get a boot selection screen.
At that point use the arrow key to make sure start windows normally is selected, and hit enter.

That will knock it out of safe mode. if by hitting F12 you do not get to the boot selection screen, then shut off the laptop, unplug the charger, wait 10 seconds, and then turn the computer on, and the menu should appear.

I hope this was helpful!

My gateway is stuck in configure 3 of 3 at start up

Turn on your computer. If your computer is already on, then reboot it. You need to see the initial display screen to get into the BIOS. Press the F1 key immediately in one second intervals when you see the initial screen displaying the BIOS provider information. The majority of Gateway computers use the F1 key. If, for some reason this does not work, then use the F2. All of Gateway's desktops use the F1 or F2 keys. this will vary depending on your computer and operating system Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart. Hope this helps.

Gateway MX6927 Windows Xp won't boot

put your xp disk in the optical drive.Turn off computer. Turn computer back on as soon as you turn it on start tapping f 12 constantly.it should go the boot menu giving you a choice of booting from cd or hard drive choose boot from cd.Be sure you choose repair rather than new installation or you could loose all your information stored on the hard drive,I personally would try safe mode first you can get to safe mode by tapping f 6 when you first turn on your computer.
