SOURCE: delonghi fryer

I broke the plastic mount that holds the controls against the outside of the frame. That plastic mount was depressing a switch that is no longer being depressed. I get an Error message too. I'm going to try to contact the manufacturer to see if I can get a replacement part. (I doubt I can because the model is discontinued).

Deep fryer reset button

Don't know which model you have but I have the DF-280. I had the same issue many people are having (my unit would not power on). The power cord is fine as I've confirmed this with a digital voltmeter. Turns out this particular unit has a safety switch on the right side of the metal/plastic brain unit housing. The switch is underneath the plastic protrusion that is perpendicular (or at a right angle) to the detachable electric plug. You probably won't notice it unless you look for it. My guess is the switch became less sensitive with use and despite being properly mounted to the fryer base, the brain unit did not recognize that it is properly mounted to the fryer base and therefore would not turn on.

The easiest fix for this is to stuff a small piece of paper towel slightly into the slit where the switch is activated and then remount the brain unit onto the fryer base. Another option is to replace the switch or buy a whole new fryer. If your switch actually was the problem, it should now turn on and work properly as mine did. Hope this helps...

Pilot lights however when I turn the temp up to where I want it set to pilot goes out. The thermostat makes a ckicking sound when I tune it right before pilot goes out

Hi there.
Verify if the gas pressure fed to the fryer is correct. Check also for errors/ loose wire connections on gas valve, thermostat and hi limit, last possible cause, the thermopile is weak and cannot give enough power to energize pilot and main valve at the same time.

Propane fryer is igniting in the gap below the burners

Hi there.
Low gas pressure may cause the tip of the orifice to light up during operation, you have to ensure that the gas pressure fed to the unit is correct. But when this happens after cut-off, the gas valve's main valve is leaking and needs to be replaced.

My fryer wont lit up the fire.only the pilot works

Check if there is sufficient gas supply as stated on the unit's nameplate. Check if there is no soot/ carbon build up on the thermopile for this will lessen the heat from pilot thus reducing milli volt it will generate to open the main valve, in short, main burner will not fire up if there is soot/ carbon on thermopile. Check and tighten also all of wiring connections.Check if the thermostat is set at higher temperature. If all of these did not correct the problem, try replacing the thermopile.

I have a pitco frialator and the pilot will light but when button is released after heating thermocouple, it just goes out. I've replaced the thermocouple but still the same. The pilot flame is in the...

Check if the unit receives the right amount of fuel as stated on its nameplate, if it does, check all wires for loose connections, Milli volt wont pass on loose wiring. If this does not correct the problem, you have to replace the gas valve, the main valve coil may be shorted that's why the pilot is shut when main valve is energized.

Light comes on, but it no longer heats up.

I have a similar model of DeLonghi fryer, and I have read that many customers have problems with their fryers not heating, after owning and using them regularly for some time. Mine gives an error message and stops heating, once in a while. The lights remain on, but it displays an error message on the temperature readout. I've found that detaching the magnetic safety cord and thoroughly cleaning both the cord and the connections on the back of the machine makes a big difference. Your mileage may vary.
