2007 Chev. 3500 flatbed deisel trucks w/Dual Tanks

I have several 2007 Chev. 3500 flatbed diesel trucks with dual tanks, it has a transfer pump to pump diesel from one tank to the other. Which tank has the guage, which tank feeds the engine, do the tanks equalize a level or does the transfer keep a level in the supply tank??

a transfer pump this i've never heard of are you sure it's not a transfer valve that draws from what ever tank is selected with the pump idea how do ya keep from overflowin the primary tank i knew a guy that used to drive crosscountry often he had a tank in the bed that gravity fead the tank under the bed with a ball valve shutoff But thats dangerious and most likely will get the attn of a nice police man next time he walks by on his way into the local donut shop any how the transfer "Valve" has a swich on the dash and it should redirect the level sender for the tank your running off of to the dash gauge and yes these "valves" go bad and they fail a few ways (1) draws from both tanks(2)draws from one tank only(3) draws from one tank and returns to other tank (effectivly moving fuel from one tank to other) if any of these things happen replace the valve and or dash switch

How do I know which tank im on from cab never had 2 tank truck before

You've not identified the truck model or year.. Some trucks had after market installations of auxiliary tanks. The Ford 150 with dual tanks had pumps in both tanks. Some suggest dual tanks were always quirky, problematic. However, dependent upon the year, the pumps might be located in the tanks OR the pump might be on the engine. Newer trucks with fuel injection actually had three pumps. The newest have a pressure pump in the front tank and a balance pump in the rear. Some switches affect only the guage. P haps one of the forums below can help when you supply more detail.

Just purchased a 97 chev 3500 series pu with dual fuel tanks. Don't know how to switch from front to rear tank. there is no switch

There is no switch. What you have is a "transfer pump" that moves fuel from the rear tank to the front tank as required, so that you get a smooth declining indication of fuel left on the gauge in the dash.

If the transfer pump goes bad, any fuel in the rear tank will not be pumped to the front tank so you'll only be running on the front tank.

The fuel level indicator is on the front tank, so the gauge will still accurately register the amount of fuel in the front tank.

I have a 2000 Chevy 3500 box truck with 2 gas tanks. The gas guage only goes to 1/2 with both tanks full and it won't pump gas from the second tank. How do I fix this.

Fuel levels are equaled in the tanks via a frame mounted transfer pump that transfers fuel from the rear tank to the front tank where the main pump is. Your transfer pump needs replaced, and should run about 60 bucks. Should find the pump mounted to the frame between tanks.

No start on duramax at time when hot

IF THIS IS AN 2007 YEAR THE FUEL PUMP SHOULD BE IN THE TANK. IF THIS IS A DEISEL THE PUMP COULD BE ON THE FRAME RAIL BUT ONLY HAS ONE PUMP THE PUMP RUNS BOTH TANKS.
CHECK FOR ANY CRACKS IN THE FUEL LINE ALSO. BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL DRAINS BACK INTO THE TANK WHEN IT SETS THIS IS A SIGN THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT HOLDING IT'S PRIME AND THIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED

I own a 2003 chevy silverado diesel dullay 4x4 and none of the controls work for the passenger side window, I need a wiring diagram.

Hi I have a 4x4 2003 chevy 3500 silverado dually with dual tanks
rear tank stoped pumping into front tank and was full . I siphoned the fuel out of rear tank and fuel gauge reads 9/16 full . is there a way to reset the fuel sending units so they can calculate the fuel readings. I always filled the two tanks with the same amount of fuel
until now ? I'm thinking there is a inkine fuel pump

I have a 2000 dodge ram 3500 l6 turbo diesel, just had the fuel pump and injectors replaced, but now no fuel is passing along, and can not hear the pump turn on. replaced the fuel system relay and still...

pump is your only choice at this point...HOWEVER, it does have sufficient fuel in the tank and switched to the supply tank (in case you have dual tanks) right?

Fuel Tank

as long as the fuel pump is running you must have a restriction in a fuel line.
good luck
