Question about Poulan Garden

I have a Poulan lawn tractor model number PD185H42ST the mower engine runs fine but the trans jumps and jerks when it gets hot i can let it sit for a few hours and it will run ok until it gets hot again i have checked the belts and they seem fine anything else i can check?

Sounds like the trans is low on oil, check and fill

Need to locate lawn mower ID No on a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower


The Model number for the Lawn Mower should be located under the seat or on the underside of the hood. The Model number for the engine should be on the top shroud usually in the front or above the carb.

Normal maintenance been applied to this rider ? Filters, lube, cleanings ? This sounds like an electrical issue (component hot), or a vacuum in the fuel tank. Next time it 'stops' open the fuel tank up and listen to any air 'whooshing' in.

Lawn tractor won't stay running if clutch is released.


There is an operator presence switch under the seat...it is more than likely faulty and must be replaced in order for the mower to run right.
