I have a PCV RX 572 VAIO used computer at home. I cannot go any higher than 512 memory. Can I change the memory and the motherboard and whatever else has to be changed by myself? If I can, I live in Las Vegas, NV, where do I go to get parts? Will you send an e-mail to me as to where I put the parts in? I do not have a cd for rebooting to bring it back to where it was when it was new, what do I do about that? I also have Auslogic and PC Virus, how do I get them back? If it is to much of a bother, do they make computer kits, like when Heathkit was around? Please let me hear from you. Thank you very much. Phil

Phil - I also have a VAIO PCV-RX572 and need to re-image the hard drive. Unfortunately, the owner never made any recovery disks and Sony doesn't offer them any more for this model. If your computer is still operational, can I pay you to make be a set of 2 DVDs? If you could do that I would be very grateful. Let me know.

Yes this can all be done but it will cost you twice the cost of a new laptop.

I have a vgn-b3vp (pcg-5b1m) sony laptop, can i upgrade the memory if it has 512 of none-removable memory and only 1 bank.

Yes, you can use the 1 bank and get higher graded memory, another 512 in the 1 bank would make 1gig, you can probable get as much as 2 gig in the bank to make a total of 2.5 gigs by buying a 2 gig memory stick.

How to upgrade RAM memory what to buy and is anything else be upgraded before this

It is a very simple thing to upgrade your Ram which is a great idea since you have only 512 MB. I suggest you buy at least 1 GB or more if you can afford it. Go to the link I am posting and let them scan your computer. They will tell you exactly what you can install and the price. This is a reputable site I use all the time. This will require a download of the scanner tool which is perfectly safe. http://www.crucial.com/

    Bigger hard drive

I'm not sure if the motherboard supports SATA drives, so your best bet is getting any IDE (ATA) hard drive. It's up to you which kind you want. I've always been partial to Western Digital and Seagate.

If you are running Windows XP then you shouldn't have a problem with having a larger hard drive, I know Windows 2000 had some issues with them that required registery editing.
