Thanks but I'm still confused. Do have pictures or diagrams? Where is the idler pulley and what does it look like and how do I get to it and the drum belt? We took off the back of the dryer and the lint shute thing and I can see a fan that turns freely in the lower left back corner when I turn the dryer on. Whereisi the motor and shaft and how do I get to it? If i need to take off the dryer top or front how do I do that?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It might be due to broken belt because it turns the clothes drum. If it is broken, the drum stops rotating. You’ll need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time. Also check the Motor if it is working. If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Remove the belt. Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing. Manually rotate the shaft of the motor. If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor. If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again. If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Kenmore Heavy Duty Plus Dryer 86273100 drum won't spin

How could the belt be in working order if the drum doesn't spin? Check to see if the belt has come off the motor. If the motor runs but your dryer doesn't spin, the belt is off. If the motor runs with the belt on but it still won't spin then you'll have a lot of black smoke because your drum is jammed. In other words, there are a number of things that could be wrong, but not very many.

Mod#11072822101. The On swicth continuity on meter seem okay. Dryer still does not switch on. Could it be the timer that is the problem? There is not motor sounds and drum does not rotate.

Hello,

The by far leading problem whena dryer wont start is a blown thermal fuse, its located in the blower housing and should have continuty.

If you hear the motor run, but the drum won't turn you need to replace the dryer belt. Here is a video to show you how.

My Kenmore dryer is around 10 years old. Will not start after finishing up a load. When you push the start button I can just hear a clicking noise. Any advise?

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley or a faulty motor.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the screws that hold the filter housing.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

My kenmore gas dryer drum doesn't turn

Can you hear the motor running? If so, the drum drive belt has come apart (from the heat) and is lying loose. You will need to release the drum in order to get a new belt over it, then coupled and tensioned at the motor pulley.

KENMORE DRYER MOD# LEQ9858LWO WILL NOT TURN BUT HEATS

If you hear a humming, then it is probably a broken or slipped belt from the motor to the drum. There is usually a pully on the shaft of the motor, a tensioner pully on a spring, and a groove on the back of the drum that the belt rides in. If this belt breaks or comes off track, the motor will still spin but the drum won't.

You will probably need to take the front or back off of the dryer (varies by model) to expose a view of the belt, and once you do this, it will be easier to see if the motor is turning or the belt has broken or slipped.

If the belt has slipped, be sure to inspect it for wear, and replace it if worn. Otherwise, it will slip again and you'll have to repeat the process.

The dryer drum won't turn. Everything else seems

If you can hear the motor running when it is turned on then you dryer needs a new belt. If you cannot hear the motor running it needs a new motor.
