Question about ASUS A7N8X Motherboard

2 Answers

I've had this mother board, asus A7N8X, for like one or two years now. Today I noticed that my processor was almost overheated so I decided to change it to another one that I had. I know that all my three processors works properly but when I putted it into my motherboard it just started up and then it shutted down again. So after awhile of trying I thought that maybe it was the processor, so I changed again, but with same problem. I've been trying to reset the bios and change different stuff in it for more than four hours, but with no result... What should I do?

Have you tried to pull the battery itself for 15-20 minutes and left the motherboard unplugged? Also you could visually inspect make sure no capcitors are expanded. I have a A7N8X-E that gave me problems whenever I tried to change settings, and I ended up RMA-ing like 4 boards. It could potentially be as bad as that.

Mother board update

Well that can depend on a number of factors like how much you are willing to pay.
Logon to newegg.com or zipzoomfly.com and search through their motherboards for ones that match your processor. pick one that has the features you want. Im partial to Asus boards so id find one of those that would match that processor. They list which processors will work with them so it really is pretty easy. zipzoom is my personal fav.

My AMD 3200+ 400/333 chip has died, what can I replace it with? The motherboard is an Asus A7N8X.

Anything in AMDs Socket A line of processors should work.

The AMD Athlon XP 3200 was one of the best processors that would work in that board. Good luck finding one though.

Reg-problems facing while operating computer

check bios setup (pres del or f10 at startup) for cpu speed if speed is mentioned less than actual then change to the right value. if cpu speed is ok in bios then speed info might have changed from registry. my computer>hkey_local_machine>hardware>description>system>central processor>hightlight o folder>on the right pane select processor name status> change this to original value.
