The drive may be dead or dying
Download the latest diagnostic software and utilities from the manufacturer of your hard drive
run the tool for your particular hard drive from the link (http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287)
if you don't know what brand of hard drive is in the computer look it up on the computer manufactures website...
download the tool to the working computer...burn the cd on the working computer...
put the cd in the non working computer and boot it up....

The Hard drive could be bad, you may want to try a low level format or a simple chkdsk. And then try to high level format again.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Formatting a laptop is the same as doing it on a desktop computer.
If you are using the Windows installation CD then to get the laptop to boot up with the Windows CD you can change the BIOS boot startup device and make the CD the first boot device.

doesn't the toshiba website provide the drivers for you to download? Can take a bit of searching but most of the large computer manufacturers do have this facility.

Toshiba tecra 9000 wont start

Blue screens are generally operating system failure. You will need to reinstall your XP home. Format the drive NTFS, instead of FAT32. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is the failure and will need replaced.
