Question about Whirlpool DU1055XTSQ Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Odd perhaps burning smell

Last evening during second half of cycle an odd smell became present. No smoke but the prevailing smell. Finished cycle and removed dishes that were perfectly cleaned. Visually inspected interior but saw nothing out of the norm except the smell was there. This morning looked inside again and smell was faintly still present after leaving it partially opened throughout the night. Is it safe to run again this evening? Is it covered under warranty (03/21/07 purchase date)? Cannot afford major repairs unemployed. Please advise. Your reply appreciated. Mario

SOURCE: dish washer not filling

I had the same problem. It was a clogged water inlet valve. Packed with sediment. Accessible from the bottom if you have the right tools. Just clean out and replace. Or the valve could be bad.

SOURCE: A burning smell and steamy smoke come out when we open the door.

Normally, the last part of any cycle involves using the heater element inside, and at the bottom of, the dishwasher to give dishes a final hot rinse. Possibly some small plastic-type material has become melted and stuck to the element - which will remain hot even after all water is discharged. Hence the smell.

I set my brand new GE oven to bake and it almost immediately started to smoke. It continued to smoke even after I turned it off. It smelled like burning wood. It kept smoking (15 minutes) until I unplugged...

Wherever you bought it from should have a warranty. Get them out there to look at it. The smell of burning wood is odd. Check to make sure all of the packing material was removed prior to installation. That could be burning cardboard on the outer casing of the oven.

Odd smell from engine

If you have been (revving the car/racing/accident/excessive speeding) you will smell something similar to burning oil from the engine, also if it has been more than 10,000kms (6000 mile) since last oil change you should get it serviced.

Hi my candy washer/dryer keeps making a odd noise when quick spinning. Lastnite there was a 'odd smell like burning rubber. when i opened it there was a little smoke, and a bit of rubber inside. is it...

You have a mis-aligned drum and you should check the perimeter rubber gasket to verify if there is some rubbing on it. I can't say for sure what the odd noise is except for a rubbing situation. If you ar able to replace the rubber then replace it and I hope you have been removing and cleaning you gasket to prevent any mildew build up. I would replace the washing machine if the motor and transmission is not operating. Good Luck
