Ice on inside back wall of fridge

I have a Matsui fridge MUL1308 which I bought in June this year. We have the internal temp set at 3 but it now has a large block of ice covering the back wall on the inside. This surely isn't normal - can you help?

Defrost it and make sure bottom drain hole is open...may need to heat with hair dryer to assure drain is open...if not it will continue to do same thing.

Your freezer actually cools your fridge. It sounds like you have ice build up in your freezer behind the back panel. You should be able to unscrew the back wall inside your freezer. A hair dryer should help defrost or keep it open for a few and use a screwdriver to remove the build up of ice. The ice has made its way down the vent and when it hits the fridge it is above 32 degrees so it is melting. Hope this helps. I manage rental properties and have had it happen on a few occasions.

To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.

Ice has built up behind the wall of the fridge. I can see ice in the little holes on the back wall. I also have water accumulating under the crispers in the fridge. I called samsung they have no clue...

turn it of and under your fridge or on the inside water is ment to full into the tray either the tray is full or your temp control is buggered. try tilting your fridge back about so it leans back and see if that helps but a new seal is about $20 and all you do is pul the old one off and pop the new one in place

Why does it freeze inside the fridge and the some of the contents are frozen, the therm temp is at 1

theres several reasons for that! #1 is that the vent's inside the box are not! closing all the way off with the temp controller set at #1 #2 is that most units with icemakers and other accessories tend to get full of ice which inturns allows the storage of ice in the tray/box to freeze!! the walls between the freezer and fridge side! due to poor insulation in the box it's self and a flaw in design. its like setting a empty pan on a block of ice then when you feel inside the pan after a while its cold as the outside where the ice is? follow me so far? i knows its a pain but the way these newer units are made there basically made to sell! there is 2 things you cna do! here #1 is put a new temp control in it and number 3 keep the ice tray half empty or more till you need ice

Ice building up on the internal back wall of AEG SANTO K 9 18 00-4i Integrated fridge. this is meant to be self defrosting. We have not defrosted in 3 years and the build up has happened over the last 6...

Your defroster mechanism inside the unit has gone out. What this is is a long tube that heats up to maintain the ice from forming as you say. It possibly went out at the last defrost cycle as you had stated. this defrost cycle is done by the fridge on its own as the has been designed to do. I would suggeest having the unit serviced by a tech since you have an intergrated system. Good Luck on your Repairs

Hotpoint fridge too cold!!

Hi John,

There had been changes in the system recently, and not all answers are being displayed.

Now I do not know where to find your original problem.

If you find any link to the thread in your old emails, copy and paste it here , so that I can track back the problem.

When fridge is freezing inside that can be caused by:

Bad temperature settings.(temp too high)
Bad climate conditions (very hot outside and fridge set to lowest temp)
Problem with evaporator system at the back of the fridge.
Faulty thermistor, not detecting when temp. is too low.
Compressor problems.

Try moving the fridge from the wall, this sort out many problems with condenser/compressor and evaporator.
If there is Ice inside also remove ice to get back to normal.

If that does not work, it is either the compressor coming to the end of its life, or a faulty thermistor.

I will try to find the original thread, I suggest to complain with fixya, we have had serious disruptins since the new Fixya system started to work.

Won't automatically restart to keep temp down on either side

Hi.  I have the same problem.  As a temporary measure, I've bought a wall timer that I've set to turn off the fridge every 3 hours for a few minutes.  At least I don't have to constantly pull it out from the wall. Good luck. I'm still looking for a permanent solution !

I'm not thinking of the icemaker, I'm thinking you have an ice buildup because of excess humidity in the box or, perhaps a deeper problem. First, defrost the unit completely. This may be done by leaving the unit unplugged and open for a day or two. This will allow water to melt off the coils and around the fans. Removing just the frost off the back walls won't do it. Next, check gaskets for good sealing/dirt. When restarting, make sure that you are not leaving open liquids inside, 'window shopping' and the like. Set your internal temps to 0-5 F in the freezer, 38-42 in the fridge, not colder. Use a digital thermometer and leave it in for at least 2 hours without opening the door to verify. If this doesn't do it, you have issues with your defrost timer or heater.
