This is likely caused by either a dirty ignition electrode, a cracked ignition electrode, or a bad spark re-ignition module.

Clean and inspect the six electrodes for cracks, If that doesn't solve it order a new
Ignition module from an internet appliance dealer that carries Viking parts like Appliance Zone.

If you replace the Ignition module yourself, make sure to turn off the circuit breaker to the range/cooktop before you work on it. Also, make a drawing of where the different color leads are plugged into the ignition module before you unplug the wires and plug them into the new re-ignitor. If the unit is under one year, this should be covered under the warranty.
Viking had a recall a few years back on their ignitor modules.

The module might not sense the flame: check electrical connections: wire (and its contacts0 and conections by fryer chasis; to be sure please bond with 18AWG wire pilot burner with spark module green wire.

It does not have an ignition control module. The PCM (powertrain control module) fires the coil pack based on signal it recieves from the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor.

You need to run a wire to the coil from the hot wire coming from your key/ignition switch. This will ground the coil and eliminate the spark.

Is this a golf cart? Single plug? Test for current getting to coil when ignition switched to ON. If yes, either bad ignition module or bad coil. If NO, check ignition switch and related wiring.

No spark on cyl 3 and 4


What engine ? 2.2 l or 2.4 L. You don't say if any codes are set. no P0303 - P0304 cylinder's 3 & 4 misfire ? or any other ? No the cam sensor wouldn't cause just two cylinders to misfire. The PCM triggers the ICM to turn on an off coil's to build up an collapse the primary voltage inducing the secondary voltage . This engine is equipped with a non-distributor ignition system called the electronic ignition (EI) system. The primary circuit of the EI system consists of the following components:

Two separate ignition coils

An electronic ignition control module (ICM)

?€¢
A crankshaft position (CKP) sensor

?€¢
Related connecting wires

?€¢
The ignition control (IC) portion of the powertrain control module (PCM)
Important: The camshaft position (CMP) sensor is only used for a misfire detection. It is not part of the ignition system. !

How to replace ignition switch in a 2005 chevy malibu


IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1.Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster.
2.Remove the knee bolster.
3.Remove the I/P center trim panel.
4.Remove the ignition switch wire harness connector.
5.Remove the theft deterrent control module wire harness connector.
6.Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
7.Disconnect the park lock cable at the ignition switch.
8. Remove the ignition switch at the IP screws.

9. Remove the ignition switch assembly.
10.Remove the ignition switch bracket screws.
11.Remove the theft deterrent control module.

12.Remove the ignition switch bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1.Install the ignition switch bracket.
2.Install the theft deterrent control module.
3.Install the ignition switch bracket screws.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the screws to 5 Nm (44 lb in).

Tighten the screws to 2.5 Nm (22 lb in).
6.Connect the park lock cable at the ignition switch.

Truck will not start


remove coil wire at distributor and plug a HEI GM tester spark plug to see if spark at ignition coil if not test ignition coil for current and signal not short to ground

Yamaha Golf Cart won't start


did you leave the key on and kill the battery or a light or something double ck that battery , they will still light up the ignition and lights and ll but does not have enough to crank the starter , that is what is sounds like to me be put a jump on it or charge it and try again , when you turn on the ignition does the lights light up on the dash panal if so the batter is low

Hi, Greddytuner8 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting, leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
10. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

No spark from spark plug wires I think it may be the distributor cap or interior parts under cap like rotor and condensor but dont want to change parts thats are fine i replaced the plugs but still no...


There wrere two types of HEI (High Energy Ignition) distributors used by GM in 1985, one was the original design with the ignition coil mounted in the top of the distributor cap, and the second had the coil mounted seperate from the distributor and used a coil wire.

There is the possibility that the ignition coil is faulty and first check to see if full battery voltage is even getting to the "Pos" (+) positive side of the ignition coil when the key is in the "Run" position, and also if the coil is seperate from the distributor that full battery voltage is getting through the "Pos" (+) or positive side of the ignition coil and over to the distributor ignition module, dis-connect the wire connector from the ignition module and if battery voltage is not present at the connector to the ignition module with the key in the "Run" position but it is present at the "Pos" side of the ignition coil, then the ignition coil is faulty. If battery voltage is present then check the ohms between the high tension terminal (where the coil wire goes on the ignition coil) and the "Pos" terminal on the ignition coil by first dis-connecting the wires from the ignition coil and then test with the "Neg" lead from the ohm meter in the high tension terminal on the ignition coil, and the "Pos" lead from the ohm meter to the the "Pos" terminal on the ignition coil, and the ohm reading should be between 6,000 and 30,000 ohms and if not replace the ignition coil. A faulty ignition coil can also damage the ignition module.

The ignition module and the pick-up coil/stator located inside of the distributor is what generates the signal that the ECM (Engine Control Module) uses to time and fire the fuel injectors, as well as the signal to run the fuel pump and the dwell signal timing to fire the ignition coil, and a faulty ignition module can cause any one of these systems to malfunction.

That could be a malfunction with the ignition module inside of the distributor, and you can remove the ignition module and have it tested for free at most auto part stores. If the ignition module does test out alright then the problem could still be in the pick-up coil/stator, (it can be tested using an ohm meter by dis-connecting the wire connector from the pick-up coil/stator and the ohm reading between the two wires from the pick-up coil/stator should be between 500 and 1500 ohm's, and both of the wires from the pick-up coil/stator should show an open loop or an infinite reading between each wire and ground) and if the pick-up coil/stator is found to be faulty then replace the entire distributor, or the distributor will have to be dis-assembled to install a new pick-up coil/stator.

If you do purchase a new ignition module be sure that it does come with a silicone grease or a die-electric compound because it is a heat sink and the ignition module will burn up without it.

To install the new ignition module first clean out the mounting surface inside of the distributor. Then completely coat the metal contact surface under the ignition module with a thick coat the silicone grease or die-electric compound and do not leave any of the metal contact surface of the ignition module un-coated with the silicone grease or die-electric compound, and be very careful not to over-tighten the ignition module or it will be damaged.

Do you have any idea what ignition system it has, as there were 2 or 3 used in around those years on the AMC products. If it's the HEI system, I'd suspect (1) pickup coil in distributor, or (2) module in distributor. If it's not HEI, let us know and we can help further.

It would be great if you could find the Ignition Control Module!!! From my experience on my Jeep...90 YJ 4.2 liter carb. it does not have one...Computer controlled only...
