Nikon n60-autofocus Hoping that someone here can help. Seems that I am without auto focus...when depressing the button to focus...I just hear a fast tap tap tap....and there is not any movement. I have checked the placement of the lense and all looks well. N60 stopped auto focusing, no longer takes photos

No shutter action

Set the lens f/stop to the largest number such as f/22 (smallest diameter). Many cameras with automatic exposure must have the f/stop set to the largest number on the lens, or turn off auto focus do manual focus.

Nikon N6006 will not autofocus.

If you have more then one autofocus lens, is the problem limited to one lens only? if it turns out that the camera needs professional repair (and it may), keep in mind that an N6006 body is currently available on E-bay for $35 (buy it now price) and an N8008 is only $40 (buy it now).

I understand the autofocus Nikon N55 was subject to a recall and it might have been for a shutter problem that I am having. After autofocusing, the camera will not permit me to snap the photo. I thought it...

You can contact Nikon through their website, (or the appropriate website for your country), or they also list 800-numbers on the website for various countries. You can also contact a NASR (Nikon Authorized Service Representative) in your area if there is one. Keep in mind that often recalls and TSB's have a time limitation on them, and the extension for this model may have expired.

Does the focus lock indicator come on, indicating proper focus when you're using autofocus? Does it happen all the time, or only under certain conditions? Have you attempted using a different lense?

I purchased a Nikon N60 used. The film will not automatcally load therefore not shoot

Please follow these instructions: 1. Open the camera back 2. Pull the film leader across the red film index mark (red line) 3. Check to ensure film is properly positioned with no slack, then close camera back 4. Fully depress shutter release button to advance to frame 1. Check the rewind lever if it turns counter clockwise when you depress the shutter release button.
Keep on trying this procedure until you get it right. Most of the time, the error is in not pulling the film leader enough to reach the red film index mark.
If you're still having a problem with this, the next best option is to have the camera checked by a competent camera technician.

Do the old AF lenses for the Nikon N60 SLR fit the new DSLR cameras

Hi ericm675, Yes they will. What you run into is were one uses a auto focus lens on a newer digital such as a D40. Some of the new digital cameras do not have the drive gear to turn the autofocus on the lens. Those newer cameras use electronics. Look on your camera lens mount at 7:00 you will see the drive pin. Look on your old autofocus lens you should see a slot where that pin fits. Hope this helps you.

F60/N60 in auto mode cannot focus lock

It's probably the lens.

The gears become worn an a little sloppy, and also sopmetimes a little stiff.
This makes them overshoot the correct focus and then they have to try again resulting in the hnting you describe.

There can be other problems, but this is the most likley. Try another lens and see if you get the same problem.

Will not operate in the autofocus mode

Take the camera off auto focus,if the shutter fires and you can manually focus, then the lens must be repaired. Take the lens to a camera repair shop and get an estimate.

Nikon N55 Won't take picture in Auto Focus Mode?

There was a recall on the N55 due to auto focus problems. You can do a google search or email the support team and they will send you the paper. This is what I did, I wasn't charged since I had the correct papers. I, however, used one roll of film and my focus went out again! Mine doesn't even work on manual... If you want to try that maybe you will hae better luck than me. GOOD LUCK!

Nikon N60 fEE Issue

First of all, you can download a manual from here.

Basically, with certain types of lenses you need to set the aperture ring on the actual lens to its minimum setting (f22 or f32). Once it is set here, the camera can then control the aperture. It's covered on page 16 of the manual.

Hope this helps,

Will not auto focus

"... Autofocus Lock ("AF-L"). Pressing the AF-L (Autofocus Lock) button enables the Nikon F4 to lock the focus. Simultaneous lock of AF-L and AE-L is possible. "'FREEZE FOCUS" - is another great function in the F4. It allows automatic shutter release when subject enters a pre focused distance - available with Nikon MF-23 and/or the 250 exp. MF-24 Multi-Control Back. i.e. with the shutter button fully depressed, the shutter is automatically fired when a subject comes into a preset manually focused position. This function is recommended for sports races because the racing course is usually known beforehand. It also works well in wildlife remote control photography, scientific, forensic and other technical photography. ..."
