RV AC unit won't cool, blows chuncks of ice

We have had our RV AC unit into 2 different dealers in the last couple of months, due to the unit running for awhile working fine then icing up and not working. No one can seem to diagnose the problem with the unit. I am not sure why but the last dealer we had it to put a piece of metal wrap inside the unit?? Charged us $85.00 and didn't fix the problem. Brought it home turned on the AC unit on low fan w/ac on for all night and it wasn't cool in the trailer in the morning.. no cold air coming out...Of course I had all the vents closed to.
RV is a 23' Salem 2002
Thank you in advance for and suggestions of what is wrong..

I have had the AC unit on HIGH with the vents all open and same problem occurs. We were in tempetures of 95 plus, ac unit worked fine for a few hours and stopped blowing cool air. Thus temp inside the trailer rose to nearly the outside temp.
I have also turned the knob that adjusts like a "thermostat", for which it clicks in various positions. Turned AC unit back on and it blows out chunks of ice..
Took the cover off the AC unit and it is all clean and free of debris.
    Any other suggestions? Thank you...

It's most likely an airflow problem, you say you had the vents closed? Icing up is normally caused by lack of load (air flow) or loss of refrigerant charge. Make sure all your vents are open to allow for as much airflow as possible and that your filter is clean. Some units do not work well on low airflow setting when the outdoor temps cool down at night.

I have a new kenmore ac unit model 580.75101500 i bought about two weeks ago and installed last week. its been blowing ice cold as it should no problems until today. Now the ac turns on runs about 5...

Take it back or call Sears. A 2 week old unit should not do that. I'll assume the settings are right like set on AC Auto or Max cool and not just fan. Are the coils icing or were they icing behind the filter? If not, I think it may need to be serviced.

Motor still runs after cool air stops coming out

See if helping the fan turn will get it going thrn let it run awhile.. The fan motors rake a set if not used often enough.

Dometic air conditioner blowing cool air

When the cooling slows down, but water is still running off, usually something is icing up. You can turn the unit off, and let it thaw, and try again. Sometimes, if the humidity is high, this is more pronounced. It sounds like you are low on refrigerant. That implies that you have a slight leak. You should have the unit serviced, and the leak repaired.

Duo therm ac problem

Same problem. I have a 2005 on a Rockwood Roo. Worked fine in October 2009. Not working June 2010. Problem is not a freon leak, compressor went bad. I banged the compressor gently with rubber mallet then with a hammer but that did not work. The fan runs, the compressor runs but gets hot. Also no indication of freon moving through system as everything gets warm from the compressor outward.

Air unit ices up

Yes this occassionally happens when the humidity is high.. Also it is ok to run the air conditioner for about 18-20 hours a day but try to switch it off for a while if possible. This will improve the life of the air conditioner.. if you have any further queries do ask me..

Regards ,
Eagle.

ROOF AC UNIT ISSUES

Ice on the coil is caused by 3 things; 1, low freon charge. 2, inadequate air flow across the coil, this can be a filter or dirty coil (I think you addressed these) or the fan isn't blowing enough air over the coil. 3, the unit is running continuously. A heat pump has another cause, that is something defective in the defrost system, like the sensor, reversing valve, control board or relay. If the breaker is tripping its because the compressor is over amping. There can be an obstruction blocking the fan or something like #2. Or the compressor is going out. If the breaker doesn't trip on other settings, like cool, but trips on heat, then I would look at the airflow.
