Within IE8, delete all Temporary Internet Files.
Close IE8.
Open IE8, and access Facebook's "home" page.

Does the error happen "all" the time, or only when accessing one specific friend's web-page?
If the latter, then there's a problem on that person's web-page -- avoid that page to avoid the error-message.

Is there a known problem with the HP J4680 and IE8?

The problem is usually with the web site being printed. Various website designers use different methods to create their pages. Some use tables and frames which present a problem for the print software.

1) Wherever possible, look for a "Printer Friendly" version of the web page

2) Failing this, from the IE print icon drop-down box (down arrow) choose "Print Preview" > Click Page Setup icon (gear icon) > Select page settings of your choice. Try printing by clicking the printer icon.

3) When encountering a webpage created with frames: Click IE print icon drop-down box (down arrow) choose "Print Preview" > Click Page Setup icon (gear icon) > Select "As laid out on screen" or "All frames individually" or "Only selected frame". Try printing by clicking the printer icon.

I hope this information was helpful.

I am unabale to use smart web printing with IE8. I have a C4480 multifunction printer

In answer to your question, yes, there is no harm in leaving Add-ons disabled, however, some website features like Flash applets will not automatically start. Let’s try uninstalling IE8 and rolling back to IE7 to see if this resolves the print problem or to determine if there is something else going on. Here is a link the link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that has the steps to uninstall IE8 and return to IE7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700
Once you are back to IE7 try and print from IE and some of your other apps. If you can print from IE7 then we will know that there is something definitely within your IE8 installation we need to troubleshoot. If you are STILL unable to print web pages we will know there is something else going on. Lets us know what you find out.

Unable to print from Outlook Express - Internet Exp.

I have the same problem. If I try to print an email or from a web page, all I get is a blank page with the web page heading at the top, and the URL at the botton. The body is completely blank. I've checked my advanced settings, and nothing there is out of the ordinary.

Problem with printer DX4400

If it's like my CX4200, save up to buy a Cannon. It's the most economical with ink. I was told that to save ink:  Keep the machine on, if you use it a lot. The charging, on activation, drains ink. Realize that printing PDF's and Web Pages use the color cartridges, even if there's no color on them. Word documents, text-edit, etc are the only things that use only black (only if they don't have colors, of course) because otherwise things are read as jpgs.
In some way, the printer keeps count of the documents so that, yes, the cartridge can be read as empty when it's still sloshing with ink. That means printing on low resolution, toning down bright colors,  might not really have a savings on ink.  So try to trade in for a Canon or HP. They let you choose to do only grey-scale, for one thing. And one can do printing on very low, and no ink, if you choose.
