Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

1 Answer

Fridge is fine, but freezer isn't working.

Yesterday I lost power for a couple of hours. After the power came back on, I heard a clicking noise every so often from my refridgerator. I thought everything was working fine. Today, everything in the freezer has thawed out. Is there an easy way to fix this?

This unit has issues with the evap fan freezing up. If you heard a grinding noise coming from freezer, fan froze up. Unplug unit, open freezer door and if you have a box fan, point it into freezer for a couple hours. Be sure to unplug fridge

A COUPLE THINGS U SAY FREEZER IS FINE FRIDGE IS NOT? THE FAN NOISE MAY BE DUE TO ICE BUILD UP DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BAD DEFROST TERMINATOR. WHICH EVENTUALLY WILL BUILD ICE UP IN FREEZER AND FRIDGE? HINDER COLD AIR CIRCULATION. ANOTHER THING TO LOOK AT IS UR FREEZER AND FRIDGE THERMISTORS AND UR COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT. EVEN UR AIR FLOW DAMPER CONTROL VENT AND KNOB SETTINGS? ARE THEY TO FAR OPEN OR CLOSED? ARE U ABLE TO HEAR THE FAN AND COMPRESSOR RUNNING? ANY CLICKING SOUNDS?

I had to pull off both back inside freezer panels, unplug, and completely defrost the freezer.  I am getting a refund.

Loud buzzing noise from inside Jenn Air 2389G fridge

i don't know jennair specifically being from england.
however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed

Fridge stopped working suddenly

Sounds like the relay (start device) on the compressor has failed.  This is a very common problem especially for models that are 3-5 yrs old.  I would replace that first.

the ice on the evap may be the clue. there should not be excessive ice build up and if this has occurred, the ice can jam the fan. try removing the freezer back panel, defrost with a hair dryer, reassemble and see if it works. if it does, the fault lies with the defrost system
