Re: How to remove and install CRT?

You got to remove the lower back panel and you'll find another 4 screws there and don't remove the front cabinet with the screen, remove the back one with the mirror. I sugest you to use the old deflection yoke, in case your new crt is comming with his yoke.

Can we seperate the tv from the speaker to transposrt it up stairs?

You should be able to take the screen off and the top black plastic shroud that holds the mirror off to transport it.

1) To do this, you will pull the speaker grill cover off on the front bottom.
2) I think there are four screws at the bottom of the screen holding the bottom in place. Use a 1/4" socket.
3) Disconnect the wire harness going to the screen by squeezing the tab on the connector - very easy to do.

4) Remove all the screws on the black plastic shroud - about 8 of them. Have someone hold your screen and gently lift the screen off. The black shroud I think still has some screws holding it in place that become visible once you lift the screen off.

5) Once the screen is off, there should be a set of screws that are holding the shroud down. Remove those and gently put the shroud on the floor where the mirror cannot get damaged.

6) Installation is reverse of the above.

Note: This would be a good time to clean the mirror and tops of the CRT bulbs. It will make your picture much nicer if it hasn't been done. Use a non streaking glass cleaner on the mirror and bulbs. For the screen, just wipe it down, don't spray it with glass cleaner.

My hand went in and smashed the screen on my toshiba need new screen

I have bad news for you, the total cost for the three screens you will need will be about $290.00. They can be obtained from . Here are the part #s: Fresnel 23311898 $80.00, Lenticular 23311897 $120.00 and Protector 23311863 $90.00.

Installation is straight forward. Generally you have to remove the back top cover with the mirror attached. Then check under the bezel on the front, below the screen, for several screws. Remove the screen and lay it flat on the floor. Remove the screen hold in screws or clips. Remove the screen.

Assemble the new screens. Make sure they are in the correct order. Protector (on outside), Lenticular in the middle and the Fresnel on the inside. You will need to secure the screens together. Black cloth tape works well around the perimeter. Reinstall the screen into the frame and reassemble the unit. This should complete the job.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

I know the screen comes off I have seen the repairman remove it before but I don't remember what he did and we would like to remove the dust off the inner screen can you help us.

You should be able to work it up another inch or two. Use firm and steady pressure. It's a tight fit... then you should see four screws on the back side of the frame. Remove all 4 screws and then hold the top edge firmly... slowly pull the entire screen out of the frame. Remeber when you put it back in, there are some pins along the inside top edge of the frame, as the frame is pushed back down to its original possition you may have to flex the top frame out a bit to allow the pins to go back into the holes. this is all visible from the top side, provided you have good lighting. I nope this helps...

How do you replace the projective cover on the screen

Remove the torx 20 screw around the screen. i suggest taping it on untill all screws are removed then remove the bottom speaker grill. again with torx screws on back then remove the center front piece with the buttons on it. you dont have to remove the wires just sit it down carefully. there is a plastic rivit on the bottom of screen in the center that needs to be pulled. the screen frame can be removed

How to remove screen on projection screen tv 56"rca model#p56926

Remove the speaker cover on the front, it just pulls off. Pry each side a little at a time. There are 4 screws that hold the screen on. Remove them and the screen just lifts off. There are wires attached to the controls so, keep that in mind when lifting the screen.

sounds like bad CRT, some of these sonys have had defective CRT issues, usually all will come and go sooner or later (all 3 bad), you can pull the speaker grill off(either 2 1/4" screws on bottom or 6 1/4" on back sides) and pull off the Crt box cover (2'X3' piece) and lightly tap the CRT's with tv on, if they flare or get colored streaks in pix they are bad, CALL SONY 800 # and complain, also could adjust G2 (Screen control for color) for short patch. Will need new crts.

Front panel removal instructions for

You have to remove the back bottom skirt from television in order to get to the screws for the front bottom panel. When the front bottom panel is removed there will be more screws visible, for front screen. After an afternoon of trying to get it apart, just to clean the mirror on ours, we finally got it.
