You have a printer that needs a specific datastream to create the labels that come out of it. There are two portions to this datastream. There is the format, which is the layout and design of the label. There is also the batch portion which has the dynamic data (actual name, address, part numbers, etc.). That said, do you know how this data gets to the printer? Is there a software application that does this or do you know if you're using a windows driver or is there some other type of terminal that allows you to manually enter data outside of your scan?

A solution to this may not be easy if you don't personally control the data that goes to the printer. If you do control this data, then I could potentially tell you what needs to be changed in that data, but if it is a 3rd party application from someone like Seagull Scientific (Bartender software), Loftware's label designer, and others... the solutions will be different for each one, though they are similarly executed.

Please reply with what you can, and I will do what I can to guide you in the direction needed.

What type of scanner are you using? You may be able to use a scan modifier or remove the leading zero with the manual. Most scanners have "setup" barcodes to resolve these issues. The name of the laundry application may also prove useful, unless it's an "in-house" application.

Hi my name is christian canola and i purchased a symbol ls2208 barcode scanner from geminicomputers and i downloaded the program 123 scan2 for my barcode scanner and i click on my scanner is connected via...

Hi Christian, if your scanner was manufactured before February 2010 it may not be able to communicate directly with 123Scan2 so you wont be able to upgrade firmware with the program, but you will still be able to use it to create configuration sheets. These are the only two uses for 123Scan2.

To create a configuration sheet without "finding" the scanner click Create New Configuration then choose My scanner is NOT connected. Select the LS2208 and click on the blue firmware button to get into the configuration. When you have completed your configuration click the Print bar codes selection at the top of the window and when the file comes up be sure to click on the Bar code formatting menu and change the Bar code type to 1D One setting per barcode if it is not already there. Older scanners will not work with concatenated 1D barcodes where 123Scan2 puts more than one setting into a barcode.

Yes, the PLU number for each item will first have to be programmed into the machine before it can recognize any barcode.

How do I create custom Barcodes?

<p>Barcodes can be printed symbols with encoded data will be charged to the computer via a scanner. A bar code allows a company to maintain control of their actions to secure and instant access to information about each product. A bar code is created using software barcode generation software. Customizing a bar code is a simple process to enter your data into the software program, and print.<br /> <p> <br /> <p>1. Open your Web browser and visit Barcode Generator, barcode or Soft. See the program's interface is usually presented on the homepage of the website page. Look at the list of different types of bar codes available, and click the type of barcode you want to use. <br /> <p><br /> <p>2. Locate the area where you are allowed to present the information is converted into a bar in, and within the data type. Click "Generate Barcode" to create barcode images. View the image resulting bar code, right click on the image and click "Save image as" in the drop-down menu to save the resulting image on your computer. <br /> <p><br /> <p>3. Close the program bar code generation, and open the bar code image stored on your computer. Right click on the saved image and click "Print" from the output drop-down menu to print the bar code. Scan the bar code information printed to be loaded on your computer and check the data sent to make sure it is correct. <br />

We are using a Metrologic MS9520 (keyboard wedge) with QuickBooks. It won't scan barcodes provided by Quickbooks, even though it's supposed to be compatible. We've downloaded about every driver, config,...

What I would first is to bring the barcode scanner back to factory defaults. To do this you will need the manual that came with the scanner, on the first page is a bar code that say "enter/exit configuration mode" scan that first and you will hear three beeps, then scan the bar code for "recall defaults" and rescan the bar code to "enter/exit configuration mode" then retry using your scanner, if this does not work bring up "notepad" on your computer and try to scan any bar code form any retail item. This should scan, if it does net then it could be a defective scanner. See page 2 on the manual link

you are probably reading to a inteligent software package like Excell, which sees the inputted data as a number (so ignores leading zeros) you need to specify to the sytem that the incoming numbers are TEXT not numbers.

Bar code reader problem

In the user manual for this device there should be a code book (or code pages), These are a selection of barcodes which you use to configure the device. One of the settings is to omit the barcode header (which indicates a type of barcode for instance a PART number might begin with P or a Serial number might begin with an S) This barcode system may have been initially programmed to omit these code letters Gareth
