1998 Peterbilt truck will not start in the mornings after being shut down over night. Have to turn it over and over for a long time before it kicks in. Have replaced the fuel pump, fuel lines, replaced injectors, and checked for possible pieces that may be blocking the lines. I had to replace the crank shaft, and ever since they had to take out the engine and put it back together, it won't start right. Any ideas?

I am going to assume that this is a celect plus N14 engine, 99 percent of the time the hard start problem is caused by either not having a check valve in the supply fuel line at the ecm cooling plate or a debris in the check valve, The check valve is on the ecm cooling plate closest to the fuel pump. good luck

Sounds like the carb may be flooding and fouling the spark plug overnight, can you turn the fuel off ? If so try Turing it off at night and see how it starts in the morning.

1994 peterbilt 379 keep shutting down

It could be the fuel pump but could also be the evap system if you have one. The unused gas drains into the system and the captured gas is supposed to be there for the next startup but isn't.

Why do the lights come on and off after I shut car and lights off in my 1998 dodge van and then the car wont start in the morning?

Well the car wont start in the morning, becuz its draining the batteryfrom the lights coming off and on. But the reason ur lights r coming off and on when the car is turned off is there is a short in the wiring from the headlight switch to the steering wheel iignition. There are several wires that are ran from the ignition switch to various things in the car. Such as windsheild wipers, headlights, turn signals... which is why these things generally work only when ur ignition is engaged. The wires could be pinched which could cause the short, if ur in the habit of raising ur steering wheel up and down alot. Kind of like a pinched nerve. The steering colum is going to need removed to trace and straighten out the wiring to properly fix the short thats causing ur lights to go off and on all the time.

Cold morn - not starting. Car was moved a few feet night before.

OK, so starting the engine uses a lot of battery power, and the engine needs to be left running a while to recharge the battery.
When it is cold batterys don't hold as much charge (not quite the correct technical term, but I don't want to go into battery mechanics and chemistry here). You either need to pop it on a trickle charger or let it run for at least 15 minutes.
