Tip

Easy egg &cba on pie

To make an easy egg &a bacon pie, cut a few slices of bacon, get some store bought puff pastry, grease a couple of desert bowls with butter, whip up 4 eggs at a time, line your bowls with the puff pastry, pour in the whipped eggs sprinkle in the bacon a little salt &pepper you can ad some torn up or shredded cheese then put a puff pastry lid on, couple of slits to allow steam to escape, oh & don't forget to wipe the rim with a little egg or milk before putting the lid on once the lid is on wipe with a little milk to get a golden brown, bung it in a medium oven around 180c then around 1/2 an our later each bowl will have a beautiful pie that will feed two. You may need a whole one for a big meal (man size) hope you enjoy?? I am a single man & I love these.

Lid is stuck, can't open it.

Have you checked the lift assist hinge springs on the back of the grill. If they are broken or have come loose, it's impossible for one person to lift the lid. Also, if the lid gasket is severely worn, this could cause the lid to stick.

If none of the above is the culprit, contact Big Green Egg by email or phone
Customer-Support@BigGreenEgg.com or call (800) 793-2292.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

When my green egg gets to temp over 600 the lid becomes lose and falls off when you lift it. I've already broke one. Why is this

It sounds like a problem with the hinge springs, rather than the lid. One will usually break before you realize it has. Then the second one goes, before you realize it. And it's usually when you have the Egg heated to a high temperature. You should also check the steel band around the egg, that is part of the hinge system to make sure it has not been overtightened or is to loose.

The folks at Big Green Egg take this sort of thing seriously and are devoted to their customers. You should also contact them about this issue.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Can you over heat the egg to the point that it is very difficult to open?

I have never heard of that happening. But, the lid of a Big Green Egg is heavy and some times the hinge springs either snap or get weak. Which makes it very difficult to open. But, sealing itself shut, because of high heat, I don't think so.

Lid is stuck closed, cannot get it open

Is it really cold where you are in June? If so, light a small fire in the very bottom of the Egg behind the draft door. After a while the Egg will warm up the ice keeping the lid closed will melt.

If it's not really cold where you are...get out a butter knife and slice it open around the rim. Then buy yourself a new gasket here http://www.outdoorhome.com/productcart/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=33
