Optoma H30 projector hooked up to JVC RX-D201S receiver

This hookup was working before but I unhooked it and when I went to rehook it, the projector says that there is no signal. The dvr is hooked up to the receiver with the yellow video cord. The receiver is hooked up to the projector with the RGB cords. The receiver is also set to analog. The receiver sends sound to the speakers and everything.

also to note. we had the same problem when we were first hooking it up. We just do not remember what we did when we first hooked it up.

  • Tomyka81 Dec 10, 2007

The yellow cord is the yellow video cord with the white and red being the audio cords.

  • Tomyka81 Dec 10, 2007

the connectors are just single "fat" pin connectors with the grapple features on the sides

  • Tomyka81 Dec 10, 2007

I cannot get the menu to come up using either the remote or the projector buttons

  • Tomyka81 Dec 10, 2007

When I turn the projector on, it does scroll through the differnt input options looking for the signal. The projector did this when it was working correctly.

    I need help

  • Tomyka81 Dec 11, 2007

The yellow cord is brand new. I think the problem is with the receiver becasue I just hooked the dvd player straight to it and it works. I am not sure what is happening. the current setup is now the dvd to the projector with the RGB cords and the sound from the dvd thru the receiver.

You mgiht also need to replace the yellow lead as if this has become damaged.
You say you get sound so you know the other twol leads are fine can you select input device so you can select witch mode to use if all else fails you will need to get the leed tested and replace as necesarry.
Also have you tried plugging the video lead in when it is all switched on as sometimes it will pick up the signal and be on the right video input as they will often automatically pick up the signal so try this whilst it is switched on let me know how you get on ok

from my experiance with projectors it should pick up the signal strait away ie when proj is on and then you switch the dvd on it automatically picks signal up and should have no problems.
if you are sure the lead is ok then you have tried the lead in something else and the dvd works ok that way then the prob has to be projector.
It could just be that the conector you plug the lead into might need resoldering to make the conection good again.
if you cnay acess none of the settings and switch input then thats telling you their is no input their.
If you are capable of repairing the unit yourslef then give it a go but if you are unsure then leave to expert.
But you should find that it is only solder problem.
Only go this route if you are sure dvd works ,lead are fine then it is projector.
Does the controll do anything and does the projector buttons do anything let me know ok

Hi Tomyka81,

I will investigate the problem you are having and get back to post a comment momentarily. If you can describe the yellow cord for me a little better. Please describe the connectors on both ends for me. I will post back soon with a proper hook up.

    Hi Tomyka,

The optoma website does not cover anything helpful in getting info on the H30. However the JVC site is very good. You will need to make sure the onscreen menu for the H30 is allowing auto source search.

Are you able to get to the menu on the H30 and select component video input? This should work and Analog is correct setting by the way. I am thinking you only need the Y, Pb, Pr cable to the H30 hooked up to the Monitor out Y, Pb, Pr connection on the back of the reciever.

Try hooking another Video output type device to the H30 to see if it is the JVC not putting out a Y, Pb, Pr signal. If you have a DVD player with y, Pb, Pr output and select the switch on the back to use the compionent output it might let you know if the video out is working on the Reciever. On the other hand, hook the monitor out Y, Pb, Pr to the input of another monitor to see if the video out put from the receiver is working. You may have a setting to turn on in the receiver that turns on the Y, Pb, Pr output.

    Hi Tomyka,

I found the users manual for the h30. They say something about a hide feature could be stop[ping video from displaying, but i think it may be a bad connection. Check the pins and connections on both ends of the Y, Pb, Pr cable. Go ahead and do what I said in the last post. This may tell us if the H30 or JVC is causing the problem.

Alright then, You have a bad connectiion inside the Receiver. What I am talking about is the Y, Pb, Pr connection does not work. This could be a setting not turning on the Component output. I will investigate further for more information.

Also, you need to set the JVC to the correct Video Input. If you are using a VCR or DVD player to play a videoo, be sure to set the JVC to read that input. All you will get is audio is the wrong video input on the JVC receiver is not selected properly.

Here is a copy of the JVC manual.

On page 20 it talks about selecting the Video input.

Select the input that the DVR is wired into on the back of the REceiver.

If the lamp light is orange then the lamp ballast circuit or power to it is no good.

I presume the lamp is not on at all, and it's not the hide function that is stopping the light coming out.

Optoma H30 Projector: color banding

Most DLP projectors have a colour wheel. It's usually hard to get at, and you may have to actually remove everything including the optical block from the projector to access it. This wheel turns on a motor just like a fan, and if it gets dirty it can act up just like a fan.

They are expensive to replace, so you might want to try taking it apart and cleaning it out. Add a small amount of 3 in 1 oil to the motor if you can.

Noisy projector

Hi there

It is a pitty that they quoted you so much for the replacement of a colourwheel - because it really is'nt a expensive part to have replaced.

It makes me really mad that some repairers take chances like that with their clients.
