I have been trying to download pictures from my coolpix p60 to several different computers and to no avail. I keep getting this message, "Computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please maek sure device is truned on and properly connected to computer." I have changed batteries, tried 6 different computers, restarted computers, etc.. Nothing is working. I just downloaded pics last week and all of a sudden this has happened. It has to be with the camera though b/c I have tried different computers at work and at home. PLEASE HELP!!! My Nikon P60 won't download pictures. It transfered the first 5 pictures in memory and then stalled. Error message says it can't copy the next picture and it won't copy subsequent pics either. The only...

Try downloading from the memory card. You will have to purchase a card reader, usually less than $20. It will save the batteries, too, since the reader is powered by the computer.
Make sure the batteries have a good charge. The camera powers the download not the pc.

I can't download Nikon Transfer on my system 7 computer. I was directed to another program and it waont download either. Karl

Try the current version of Nikon Transfer at
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I am having trouble importing my pictures on my coolpix P60 into iPhoto - I've mad sure that the camera is on but it wont come up as a device when I plugg it in

Use a separate card reader instead of the camera to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import into iphoto.

I took 300 pictures on my Nikon Coolix P60. Image number 4 is not coming up and so I cannot download my pictures

If you use a usb card reader you can avoid the problems that happen between the camera and computer. Just plug the reader in, put the card in it, open my computer and it should show up as something like Removable Disk(G:)nikon. Double click it or right click and hit explore and it will open a normal explorer window with all the pictures on the card. The same process usually works with just the camera plugged in via a usb cable and bypasses the transfer software. Just drag and drop them where you want them.
