Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Aligment not working

I have an officejet HP 5610 all in one about 1 year old.

i replaced the color cartridge and printer the paper to align it, when i placed it in the printer for it to start the aligment i get a message aligning the cartridge busy, it just stays stuck or frozen there the green light blinks and nothing works.

I hit the cancell button to cancell the aligment the green light blinks and i get the message cancelling aligment and its still stuck there for more than 10 minutes.

it prints fine at least the page to align the cartridge.

    I am having the same problem with my printer. It prints the cartridge
    alignment page but when it does the aligning for the scanner, the "on"
    button just blinks. You can't stop it, you can't cancel it - it just
    hangs.

    I am having the same problem.....the printer aligns fine......but can't get it to scan the document and can't cancel the operation. How do i get past this point....

Hi Aimee,

Have you tried to set your printer setting to default, On your printer. That should solve you problem, or for option two. You can re-install your printer in most case`s that solve the problem.

You can bypass the alignment on 5610 by pressing ok to start alignment
and then cancel
after that check by printing a document if your cartridges work fine if not
you can refill them with this easy and cheaper method

get a new one or refill the old one

Alignment failed notice


Could be one of two things....

1 - you may have bad cartridges...when the machine does an alignment it looks for specific marks on the paper...ie..green check marks before each line etc...if the correct marks are not there you will get an alignment failure...if the green check marks are there etc then you have a different problem...

2- spot sensor on the side of carriage is not working...this is the little blue/green light that comes on during alignment. Its what reads the markings on paper so if the markings are correctly there and you still get this error then the spot sensor needs to be replaced. Simple fix that u can do. We sell the spot sensor for $15

Change cartridge (color first) before doing anything.
