Canon doesnt sell that purge unit alone because it's too hard to change even for a shop tech. The only option is to replace the entire print engine. QM2-2020-000, and the cost is near the cost of a new printer...

Error5C00 signal from ip90 printer

Hi sandimacewe,

This means that you have a purge unit error. That's the cleaning station on the right where the printhead parks. The error you are getting is telling you that the purge unit is not giving the correct timing signal as it rotates inside 360 degrees. Therefore, something is either broken or jammed inside. If you had a paper jam and tried to forcefully pull it out, you could have pulled the internal gears out of alignment.

You will need to do some maneuvers to try to release the cartridge from its parking position. Please do not force anything. Just take it to a shop if it's hard to move.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I am getting an error message for my Pixma iP90 Printer and it is 5C00 can you help

5C00 is a purge unit error, the purge is the unit that cleans the printhead on the right hand side. If the printhead will come out of the right side, you will need to check for paper scraps caught in there, If stuck on the right you will need a shop to check it out for you so you don't break anything. You need to remove covers and printhead and check under the printhead in the purge unit.

Will not print black text. Have done maintenance and replaced ink cartridge. What next?

With this model there are several possibilities, There's a firmware update that a Canon shop has to install that helps Black cleaning, when the purge assembly goes out you have to replace the entire print engine, about $180.00. You may just need a new printhead which will run around $60.00 The printhead is QY6-0052-000

Ip90v error 5c00

That's a purge unit error, for some reason the purge unit is not cycling properly. That's the cleaning station on the right where the printhead parks. Check for any paper scraps in that area, if the printhead is stuck on the right and doesn't come out, you shouldn't force it, just take it to a shop before you cause more damage.

Canon ip90 4 blinks error

4 blinks is a purge unit error, that's the device that the printhead parks on on the right. Could be just a paper scrap inside, or the gears are worn out. The replacement includes the entire print engine and costs more than a new printer to replace.
