Question about Samsung HCM4216W 42" Rear Projection Television

Samsung Rear Projection HD tv IC convergence green only messed up now. Help please

Had this problem about a yr ago. New ic's and a few new fuses and it was fixed. I had a tv repair guy solder the ic's in but now the blue , red work fine. I can move them up down left right but the green looks to be messed up. It seems blurred or out of focus. The tv looks fine except the green. Any Ideas? I want to check the fuses on the board so I can ask the tv repair guy to fix the fuses or I could do them myself. What settings on a multimeter do i use to read these small fuses on the IC board? I can provide pictures as well. NEw ics are in I just dont get why the green is messed up still. Im guess a fuse on the IC board is blown.

When i use-to use the auto focus feature nice thin straight red lines would focus and center everything now if i do it they are green and wide and not straight. The green keeps giving me problems what should i do

To check the pico fuses you're merely testing for continuity. If you get an infinate reading you're in good shape - if it doesn't budge the meter the fuse is open... That's a really easy set to work on for convergence problems - the convergence board is easily removed..
Another cause for mis-alignment like that are the youke return resistors... There are several out front of the convergence amps that may have changed in value. They are 3.9 ohm - 2w resistors and will look identical to Rz123 and Rz124 (same banding). For those simply select a low ohm setting on the meter and check to see if any of them have some way low or way high reading...
Need anything else just ask...

Have a Panasonic PT-47WX53 47. It's probably as old as when it came out. I've messed around with the convergence before but it was never un-fixable. Then a couple a days ago I came into the ro

yes and also possibly the low ohm resistors. You can get the PT53WX53 convergence kit which fits your model from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the 2 ICs and associated resistors plus the CD with repair instructions.

I don't know of illustrated instructions but I can provide you with the service manual for your TV. It does have illustrations of disassembly and components as well as schematics. Your set very likely needs new convergence IC chips. This is a common problem with all projection TVs. The repair is not expensive ($60-75 in parts)  but does involve unsoldering and removing the old chips and soldering in new ones. Some times there are some fuses that need to be replaced as well. If you want the manual provide me with an email address.

Always replace both once your going to the trouble each IC is usually less than $30.
This link will help show you what's involved.
convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

did you replace both ICs? also samsungs will usually burn at least two of the 3.9 ohm resistors when a ic fails.

The problem is likely to be the digital convergence board that generates the convergence signal that is amplified by the output ICs.

Samsung 42" projection green and only green out of focus? Bulb? Tube? IC?

Just had new Ic?? Meaning single?? The symptoms you're describing are a convergence failure. That unit takes Stk392-040 Sanyo Ics and be aware there are a ton of Chineese knock-offs out there that can cause you real trouble, so purchase them from only a reputable part distributor... You need to change both amps, test all 3.9 ohm-2w resistors in that circuit, like Rz123 and Rz124 and check Fd102 3.5a pico fuse for open. That's actually a really easy set to work on for convergence problems because the entire convergence amp board is easily removed.
Good luck!

One of your convergence output IC's has stopped working and needs to be replaced. This is a very common problem in projection TV's. The IC should be replaced and the convergence circuits realigned by someone with experience in repairing projection TV's.
