HP Pavilion won't recognize DVD Drive

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop. I was burning DVD a couple of weeks ago, and now today I put a DVD in the computer and it won't recognize it's in there. When I take the DVD out the drive isn't there either. The message I get when I try to burn the DVD it say I don't not have access to the burner.

Any solution to this problem

This is the error message I receive for the DVD drive: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I tried to update the driver, but it says the best driver is already installed.

I had the same problem with my HP laptop. I reinstalled the OS with the recovery discs. It didn't work. I contacted HP on line, they spent about an hour with me looking at drivers, hardware, etc. Nothing worked. In the end they suggested I pull out the DVD unit and reset the BIOS. Still didn't work. I'm out of ideas.

Hmm it seams that the drive was disabled from the manager or something like that ...get into bios and try to find the drive ...it has to be found on devices where the hdd and the other drives appear ...if it isnt try to get the bios settings to the optimal factory defaults ..or to remove the bios battery for a few seconds...or if it has to short the power of the bios with a jumper...this just might get the drive back on its place ...anyway even if it does not ..reinstalling the OS will

Hp pavilion zv6000 wont recognize dvd+r

Hi Terry,

The answer is pretty simple, the ZV series is about 4 years old, back then DVD manufacturers decided which formats they would support as it was too expensive to make desktop drives, let alone, laptop drives that supported all formats. That drive only works with DVD-R and I believe DVD-RW. If you want to burn other formats, the laptop will only support them if you add an external drive of a newer make.

Note: Virtually all current models support ALL DVD formats and many support BluRay as well.

Hope this helps,

Chris

DVD-RW Not recognized in Dell Inspiron 1525

Turn off your laptop, take the dvd-rw drive out of the laptop and then reseat it back into the slot so it snaps into place. Turn the laptop back on and make sure its recognized in My computer.

If it is reocognized then try to burn again and see what happens. If it still gives you the same message, see if your drive will read regular dvd movies. If it doesn't then that means the laser is going bad and the drive will need to be replaced.

My HP notebook will not recognize dvd-r disk

It's pointing towards a hardware problem. You can try updating your drive's firmware.

Check HP's support page to see if they have one available.

If not you can check the device manager details of your drive and find one floating around the net, I'm sure.

HP DV4000 Series not detecting newly installed DVD±RW LightScribe

The type of CD/DVD recorder is suppose to be automatically detected by your Plug N Play portion of your BIOS. Reboot and press the "F" key combination that will bring up the boot process as opposed to the CMOS Settings. See if the correct DVD model shows up as one of your boot electives. You may be able to change it in that window. If not then reboot to BIOS and change it there.

i hope the size of file not larger then then the DVD/CD, ( i think you already know about that)
if you burn multiple format of file, make a folder and put all the file in the folder, so burn the folder,

especially when you put a zip folder, sometimes it will cause error,
