    I lubed the outside fittings.

  • darryl_mcleo Sep 09, 2009

I have 4 of the same type of pumps. Is there something that I should do to prevent this from happening in the future.

  • darryl_mcleo Sep 09, 2009

I have had the pump for less than a year. It usually rotates with another pump and at the time had only 300 hours of run time. I think the water temperature gets a maximum of 180 degrees, this I am not sure of. But it is primarily used for hot water.

  • darryl_mcleo Sep 10, 2009

Because of the low amount of hours, I am checking to see if it is a warranty issue. Also the pump might have been installed wrong. I will keep you informed.

The most likely cause of this is that the bearings in the pump are worn and noisy, that is just about the only reason for this, u should be able to replace the bearings by using the international number on the outside of the bearings and then cross reference that number, check on line for bearing suppliers and a cross reference chart..

Pumps only make noises when ,the bearings pack up or when they start to wear enough to allow the impeller to touch the housing.this does not require much movement as the tolerances in a pump of that capability (9500 gph )are very close.the only thing to do is to strip it down and you will soon see which one is the problem.you would be unwise not to replace all bearings and seals while it is down.. i would like to know what you did when you say you lubed the pump ,.

hi ,back again, lets see what has caused this failure.we need to strip this one find exactly where the problem lies and then we can make some decisions .how long have you had this pump? how long does it run for ? what is the temperature of the water it is pumping .there may be bearings that have better sealing ability for the hot water, my thoughts at this point are that the seals on the bearings are not good enough to hold the hot melting grease from escaping and then the bearing would start to wear quite quickly i hav e an idear that i used years ago that may be made to work here if that is the cause of the failure but if there is a bearing made for this sort of application we would be better to use it . get it stripped and explaine to a bearing company its use and we`ll see if they have special bearing for it i`ll be here when you want me---------------" youdoit "

180 degrees is pretty hot and would shorten the life of the bearings BUT 300 hrs is not a lot, so pull it down ,and we will work with what we find "youdoit"

Loud drilling noise when coffee switch is turned on - rather than the usual purring noise - and no coffee delivery either

How old is your machine ? and what maintenance have you done over time such as replacing the shower curtain located at the pourring end of the hot water ? I had too very loud noise coming occasionnally from the stainless steel rack holding the cup while coffee is delivered. If your ground coffee is too fine it will stop flow during making a shot. Is water coming out when no coffee is placed in the portafilter. The water pump on this machine is a cheap pump that has to be replaced over time. Mine is 7 years old and has delivered four cups of expresso everyday of the year, and still working.3841c994-fb4b-459f-8d1f-710e0aafc3c0.jpg 2ead4f70-37c6-4236-a9c2-992dba149c4c.jpg

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Loud Humming noise every time we run the dishwasher

Hi, I had this exact same problem. In my situation it turned out to be the pump that pumps out all of the used water. It was rubbing up against the floor so that every time it turned on it made a loud vibrating sound. I just reached under the washer and put a piece of rubber between it and the floor and it solved the problem.

good luck!

I saw this post because I am considering buying the same model you have. Other than the noise problem you have, what do you think of it?

Fisher-Paykel washer pump noise & some water left in tub

Lube the brass bearings on the motor. For some reason the bearing on the bottom nearest to the cooling fan will start to whine. I would guess because it's kicking dust up around the unit. I used a lube that will hold in place. Lube between the bracket that holds the motor together and by the fan. The noise should stop. I also suggest you lube the top bearing as well. The lube I recommend is a Silicone paste type.
