Aiwa AV-D58 wont power on

The amp worked fine when it was disconnected and put in the closet two years ago. When I took it out and plugged it in this week it won't power on with the on/off button or the remote. I pulled the cover off and put a volt meter on the input transformer leads. Voltage was OK. I also checked the A/C outlet on the rear which are after the fuse. They both are OK. There is not signs of damage to the system (moisture, dirt, dents, charred boards, etc). There is just no sign of life at all, no lights, buzzing, clicks, etc. Any ideas?

My AIWA AV-D58 won't power up predictably. Even after extended hours of being unplugged, the unit shows a steady ECO-LED with no change regardless of what button is pressed on the front panel. I read a few threads having the same problem all of them suggest to powerup while pressing the 'enter'-button. [This is the suggested 'reset' to factory defaults according to manul.] Is there any way to bypass the ECO-feature ? Is there a H/W-reset on the digital processor board ? Inspection of the digital processor board did not show anything obvious. I appreciate any suggestion(s) to svae the unit from the garbage can. Thanks.

Had the same problem as everyone else eco light stays on, amp won't power up and reset don't work.

On mine its a power supply problem (seems to be a weakness in all of them) I've fixed it by fitting a 120mm PC fan above the power supply, its worked fine since then.

My Aiwa AV-D58 receiver won't turn on, only sits on 'Eco Mode.' After letting it sit for about a month, i plugged it into a power outlet and it worked, so I unplugged it and carried it into the room...

Have someone check your house wiring to see if the live and neutral are reversed.

Beyond that - you may have some leaky capacitors. If you're tech savvy, open up the unit and see if any of the electrolytic capacitors are bulging at the top or leaking at the bottom, and if so, unsolder and replace them. This is actually the most likely issue.

Picked up a av-d58 and cannot hook up my previous subwoofer setup. I have a tester setup that has been proven to work with anything. I checked and re-checked on other systems I own and the tester works on...

Can we simplify this a bit. It sounds like you're making more of the task than it requires.

When you say "can't hook up my previous subwoofer", do you mean physically impossible or that you can't get it to work after it's attached? This receiver requires a self-powered subwoofer.

Do you have the manual? The receiver is its own tester. I have no idea what kind of tester you're using.

Get it here. and give it read. Pages 6 and 19 discuss the subwoofer.

What kind of wire do I need to connect the subwoofer to the av-d58? The subwoofer is the same that came with the receiver but I have somehow misplaced the connection wire.

Without knowing more about the subwoofer (powered, passive, what kind(s) of input it takes, I have to take a wild guess. Most powered subwoofers use the old standard RCA cable. I there are two jacks on the sub for Left and Right input you just get an adapter to make the cable plug into two jacks.

I have a Aiwa Stereo Receiver Av-D58. The sound

If I remember this model correctly, there is only 1 direct input. The remainder of the inputs are bufferred through a switching IC. It is likely that this IC is defective. Are there any other symptoms at all?

AIWA receiver

This Protection activates if you hook up Unmatched Speakers i.e less or over impedance as required by Aiwa Amp. 2nd reason can be extra speakers attachment.

Poor sound/very low sound controls having no effect

That sounds like the main amp is failing. I suspect the unit will have one IC as the power amp, which will need replacing. You can have a look inside to see if you can see something like this:

power ic-ukkvwzzuppijvxoxp10or3yb-2-0.jpg If you do. Make a note of the number on it, it might say something like STK563. Then put your number into Google and it will give you a clue to how much it will cost and if it is obtainable. You can then either fix it yourself if you have the skills or take it to the repair shop.
