Hello Sir i purchased 500 GB seagate 500GB free agent go hard disk 2 years before. recently i encountered the problems as follows. usb did not recognize the hard disk and it sound like sparking also white...

What sounds like sparking could be a head crash. If it is a head crash
then you are basically finished with the drive. They all go sometime.
The only safe way is to have another backup drive and keep a current second
copy of all information which you must save. Even this procedure is not
completely safe.
The hard drive should not make any noticeable sound (not more than a fan
sound). If it does, then it is probably dead or about to die. If the information
on the drive is IMPORTANT, then you can contact a data disc recovery site
which can help you with removing most of the data from a crashed disc.
I pioneered this recovery system idea many years ago and several companies
exist now to recover data from crashed discs.

Lacie Rugged external hard drive - new country, no connectivity

The click comes from the reading head of the hdd, the beep comes from the pc when encounters an error. If the power source of the hdd hasn't been specifically designed to support both voltages, when you plugged it in for the first time it fried. It and all the data on it are gone.

I turn on my ps3 it comes on but i get no icons only a black screen

Try reseting your display. To do this turn your ps3 off if it isnt already, turn it back on and continue to hold the power button until you hear the beeps. It should reset your display if that is the problem.

My Book (G:) icon is different

no you there iss no big problem.
The icon of your hdd iss created from the autorun.inf

Change hard drive icons Change hard drive icons:

To change the icon for your hard drive, create the
following file in notepad:

Notice it's two lines.
If your hard drive is C:
click Save As... and navigate to C:
and save it as autorun.inf
enclose it in quotes so Notepad won't put a .txt
on the end of it
The path specified is the typical Windows path
yours may vary, but you'll have that dll file.
The 36 at the end is the number of the icon I chose.
(Icons in a file are numbered, starting at 0.)
To see the change, open Windows Explorer; click
F5 if needed to refresh.
To preview your icon options, select an icon on
your desktop, right-click and select
Properties, then Change Icon. You can also select
any other .dll file in your computer, although most
won't have icons.
The common Windows icons are in
(xp = C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll)
You can also point to a single icon.
Using the example above:

I have three hard drives and nine partitions; under
WinMe, I had to move the icon/dll to each
partition and edit the autorun.ini, i.e.
C:\Windows\System\Pifmgr.dll,32 became Pifmgr.dll,32.
WinMe also wouldn't let me change the icons
for the primary partitions of the first two
drives, but did let me change the
primary partition icon of the third drive.

Makes repeated beeps, doesn't seem to work

There is a high possibility that the Hard Drive has Crashed. The beeping sound is an indication. You can try to connect it to another computer just to check if the other systems can still detect the Hard Drive. You can try to connect it to a Windows XP system and a Windows Vista System just to check the difference. If other system still can't detect it, you may be looking at Hard Drive Failure.

**Note : If you can see the Hard Drive under My Computer, you can check Disk Management to be sure (Disk Management gives you the list and the info on all storage devices on the system, formatted or unformatted.). If you can't see the Hard Drive inside Disk Management, You should call Simple tech Support for replacement if Hard Drive is still under warranty.

How to access Disk Management :

Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
In the console tree, click Disk Management. The Disk Management window appears. Your disks and volumes appear in a graphical view and list view. To customize how you view your disks and volumes in the upper and lower panes of the window, point to Top or Bottom on the View menu, and then click the view that you want to use.

**Note : There is no Software that can recover files from a crashed Hard Drive, In that first place, shich ever software that is, it will not be able to detect the Hard Drive anyway. There is one company that is credible to retrieve data from crashed Hard Drives (If your pictures / Files are that valuble to you).

Check out this link or call 800 440-1904 :

Possible hard drive problem

sounds like you may have a crashed head. you can go here to listen to other drive failures to see if your drive sounds like one of these:

I would suggest however, turning off and not using your drive as much as possible. You may need to take your drive to a professional repair shop if the data on the drive is worth retrieving. There are a few companies that will recover data even from hard drives with failed hardware. They simply take your drive apart and retrieve it directly from the platters.

You might check to see if your drive is still covered under warranty for replacement.
