I have a logitech web cam that had been working fine until one day I plugged it in and now it only shows black and white images. I have searched the tools and settings menu and cannot find any black and white or color option to change it back to color. I'm concerned something is wrong with the webcam. I can still receive color images from anyone I videochat with, but they only see me in black and white as well. I can't think of anything I have done to change a setting to black and white. My only concern is that for a while I stored the web cam in close proximity to my heater, and I'm worried that the heat might have done something to the color. Is this a common problem?

Just go to logitech's website look at the top of the screen it should say something like drivers or software. They also show pictures of the various web cams they make so you should be able to match your web cam to one of the pictures. Download the latest drivers, but before you do this unplug your webcam from your computer. Then install the drivers you just downloaded. Then it will either prompt you to plug your web cam back in or wait until the software finish's installing then plug your web cam back in. You will see a pop up telling you a new device or drivers are being installed. Once that completes you will probably have to adjust the video image and the sound after that you can use your web cam whenever you want too.
When you open the WEBcam on your computer do you see yourself as a fuzzy image?
If so you need to adjust the focus on the WEBcam, the focus adjustment is the ring around the lens.
You can also download the WEBcam driver from the Logitech WEB site, makesure you select the driver for you model WEBcam and the XP or Vista version that matches your Windows installed version.
you need to check device manager and uninstall old camera driver
Then restart system
if you still have a problem then back to device manager uninstall new cam and then restart and reinstall
yes more then likely conflict
please let me know if this has solved
You may try adjusting the cameras focus. Usually on the front of the camera where the lens is located it will turn left and right. Turn it one way until it gets clearer, if it gets more blurry turn the other way.
Also make sure the lens is clean by taking a soft cloth and wiping it off, some cameras have very small lenses so you may need to use a Q-tip to get the soft cloth onto the lens.
I hope that helps out, if not feel free to let us know.
