Question about Ovens

1 Answer

We have no instructions for the gas oven in the house we have bought. The house is on bottled gas and I would like to know a safe way to clean the inside of the oven. I am unable to pull the oven forward (out of its's alcove between the cupboards either side) as the gas line from the oven which goes through the wall to the bottle outside has no 'extra' length. Instructions on all brands of pressure can oven cleaners say 'make sure the pilot light is out'. How do I do that? Do I have to turn the gas supply off at the bottle and bleed the gas line before using this type of cleaner? Any help would be appreciated. A new oven would be even better...but that will have to wait :)

Cleaning a self cleaning oven

I couldn't find any information on that specific model number, but here is a link to a generic Jenn-Air Electric Range - Use and Care Guide which seems to be model non-specific. The instructions for performing a self-cleaning (as well as other tasks) might be the same for yours.

I suspect a faulty ignitor. It must draw a certain amount of amps to open the gas valve

Oven model No. GON476WNG*04 Bought a house with one installed and there was no instruction manual left. Don't know how to keep it alight.

Modern Ovens are electric start. There is no pilot. If this oven is old enough to need a pilot light, it likely needs service. Don't mess with gas. Get it fixed by a professional, NOW.
