Does it load the POST screen (showing details of memory, processor etc)? Does the BIOS recognise the new processor? Did you have to set the CPU voltage etc in the BIOS?

There are two reason for this problem. and the most probably is the first reason below.
1. your motherboard is not supporting the installed processor. although it powered up all the components and parts but the processor dont work at all.
2. even if your motherboard supports the processor and it works fine then there is problem with the VGA.

Finally to check the motherboard and processor whether they are working or not.
please remove RAMs from motherboard and start your computer and now if it gives the beeps sounds then motherboard and processor are working. and if you dint listen any beep sound then the installed processor is not being supported by motherboard.

HI,
I am sharing some general info:-
If you are change processor no problem, some point see you like after change processor any beep sound, processor more hitting.
Second check it *********** board power come or not, your display cheap more hitting or not. Check RAM proper connect, your all cable proper connection. If all things ok then may be your PC not supported processor.

Thanks..

IBM 8123 not powering on the problem is the start up fan is running continuously.

Hello Dear,

If the Startup FAN is running, means the Power is going to your motherboard and other components. SMPS seems OK. You should check the display cable and CMOS Battery.
Just try to pull out the battery and Make the machien switch ON. (Don't forget to Check the display cable is connected or not).
If it is then means your CMOS battaery is faulty one.

If i want to format the pc first i hv to change my setup as a first boot device is cd-rom , so what i have to do in ibm motherboard thinkcentre in setup in which section the bootable device order is...

Look for the boot order options in the setup or pay attention at the actual startup of the laptop when the IBM logo is being displayed. You will notice a message on the screen indicating which button to press to select the "boot order" or "boot options". Press the button (ussually one of the F1 - F12 keys) and you will be presented with a choice of which device to use to boot from.

Getting problem in formatting the IBM PC

check if the cable from the cd rom connected to your ibm pc if its ok , also check the master, slave configuration pins into the back of your cdrom. make sure that theres no conflict between the hard disk and the cdrom. Your cd rom may probably cannot be detected. make sure that it is working first. then install the hard disk. The hard disk must be in primary master and the cd rom must be in primary slave. then try booting it to your cd rom. also, try checking if your windows xp setup disk is bootable, it means that it can boot from cd rom. PM me if you have other experiences after doing what i adviced. Thank You.. heres my email. jmizpahadonai777@gmail.com
