Will not play new release paramount dvds

My phillips dvd player will not play new release paramount dvds e.g the watchmen. the play stops at the exact same point on indiana jones and the crystal skull also --just as the paramount logo is about to be displayed, i.e. the seven stars assembling above the mountain logo!?
other dvds seem to play ok.

Philips HTS3565D dvd player, recent Paramount DVDs (Star Trek and Transformers 2) freeze during the Paramount DVD introduction at the exact same spot: as the stars are flying in toward the camera's view....

I have the same problem, though I don't recall which exact movies. They were all from Blockbuster. Sometimes they start to play and then halt at the end of track 1 and sometimes don't even make it tot he menu. The same movie will play on our portable dvd player. A Philips rep told me about 6 weeks ago it was a problem with a new security feature on some movies and to watch the website for a possible firmware upgrade to fix it. Now you can't even talk to someone at Philips so I don't know what to think. The "live chat" folks just want to tell you to take it to a repair shop - not much help there.

Tip

Paramount DVDs won't get past the stars, Philips

Newer Paramount DVDs like Transformers 2, Iron Man, and Star Trek will freeze on the logo screen as the stars fly past the camera.

Solution: Make sure the disk is cleaned. Then, as the DVD is loading, place the DVD player on Mute. If it takes, the stars will pass. Finally, once the sequence is finished and the player moves to the next track, you can take it off mute and the rest of the disk will play fine.

New Transformers movie won't play

I have the same exact problem with that dvd player. So far i am not aware of any solutions yet. I called phillips and they said they will try to create new firmware uprgade for the dvd player to fix the problem and they told me to keep an eye out for it on the website. I installed the most recent firmware too but that didnt help at all. The only other solution i see is maybe downloading the entire movie from pirate website and burn the dvd files onto a high quality disc at slow speed with a good dvd writing program.

Video freezes playing burnt dvd from computer on a dvd player

dvd players are finiky things they do not like burnt dvd's at all and some will just lock up computers on the other hand can handel those because burnt dvd's are in a coding format that computers can read much easier than a dvd player your best bet is to just buy the dvd non burned and see if that fixes it. good luck and If you ever need anymore help with electronics questions pleases dont hesitate to ask me at dragon_rage27@att.blackberry.net
thanks and good luck

Symphonic Video/DVD player- dvds not able to be read so they don't play

possibly check the setup of the player. some dvd's will not work in most players. check the manual. if under warranty take back to store. or better yet buy another one like it and take the one that is bad back to the store with the new receipt.

Programmed for region 2....Need to change to 1

Q: What is Regional Coding enhancement(RCE)?
A: It's a digital enhancement added to some Warner Bros and Columbia DVDs to stop region 1 (R1) DVDs from playing on Region-free DVD players.

Q: What's the difference between Region Coding and RCE?
A: Regional Coding enhancement(RCE) is an additional layer of protection which some studios have placed on select REGION 1 DVDs to prevent them from playing on region-free or multi-region players. Region Coding is a part of the DVD spec which divides the world into 8 regions:
Region 1: U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories
Region 2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, and Middle East (including Egypt)
Region 3: Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong)
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean
Region 5: Eastern Europe (Former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
Region 6: China
Region 7: Reserved
Region 8: Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)

Basically, DVDs released in each region will typically only play on players sold in that region. IE a DVD released in the UK *Region 2* would not play on a player sold in the us *Region 1*. You can tell what Region a DVD is coded for by looking at the back of the box for a Globe with a number on it. The number correlates to the region list above. If a DVD is listed as 'Region 0' it means that it isn't coded for any region and should play on ALL regions players.
