First, do not leave this machine plugged in until it is serviced. If this is a KHMS155LSS, there is a very high probability that you have a keypad short. This defect can cause the machine to start on its own at ANYTIME; at night, while you are away, at work etc.

Contact Whirlpool Customer Service and ask for Safety Dept immediately. They will most likely send A&E (Sears) out to fix it. Although they will fix the problem, if the keypad fails again, the underlying self start logic defect is still present. You should be under warranty if it is above model. Please be polite, insistent, but polite. With KitchenAid's pathetic quality in recent years, their customer service reps get more then an earful.

Also, please go to the Consumer Product Safety Commision website at www.cpsc.gov and post a Report Unsafe Products report. This will help get this model recalled before someone loses their home or life.

I almost had a fire this past Monday, Labor Day, 9/7/09 when my machine self started at 3 AM with a package of bacon left in it to thaw at room temp for the morning. What a smokey mess.

This microwave is Chinese made garbage. Shame on Whirlpool. Long live Hobart!, please buy back KitchenAid and bring back the lost quality.

My whirlpool oven turns itself on and off without me touching it have had this problem before and was told it was in demo mode but don't know how to turn it off

I am not sure this is your issue ... but from the Whirlpool web site .. to turn demo mode off: Possible Solutions

The control has been placed in demonstration mode

IMPORTANT: This feature is intended for use on the sales floor with 120 V power connection and permits the control features to be demonstrated without the oven turning on. If this feature is activated, the oven will not work.
1. Press SETTINGS/CLOCK until "DEMO MODE" is displayed.
2. The current setting will be displayed.
3. Press the "1" keypad to adjust the setting.
4. Press START or CANCEL to exit and display the time of day.

Reset power to the product:

There may be a problem with the User Interface/Keypad, or the associated wiring.
  • Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) for one (1) minute.
  • Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s).
  • Monitor the oven for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not display again.
  • Verify oven operation.

I have an lg convection microwave oven. Can I use foil while using convection roasting?

I have a new Kitchen Aid Convection Microwave with air fryer. I've not yet used the air fryer, but today I put a pan with a roast and set to convection roast and turned it on. I put the aluminum foil over the top of the pan and it sparked. I don't know why this happened. I'd sure like someone to let me know.

I have this crepes n things pan from nordic ware. The inside of the pan is divided with a smaller inner ring -much like a bundt pan. How do you make a crepe in it or do I use the outside of the pan and dip...

Heat the pan rings side down. When heated, dip the flat side into a tray of crepe batter and return to the heat. It makes marvelously thin tasty crepes and you don't need to turn them over.

I have a 12inch cooking pan. stainless steel nonstick. cannot use. non stick surface is comming off.

Howdy, unfortunately, when that happens it is the end of the service life of the pan. If it is a recent purchase, and you feel its a warranty issue, we would be happy to find the contact information of the company for you. If this is the case, please hook us up with the make and mode and we will get going on it for you.

If it is an older pan, there is no safe or practical recoating treatment available.

Microwave beeping and F2 error code

hi,
The F2 code is a keyboard failure. Since it's intermittent I would check for a loose wire/connection. open the control panel and reset the ribbon cable on the circuit board....

thank you,

Microwave will turn on by itself and display PAN on screen.

Does everything come on by itself or is it just a fan that comes on? If so, is it a convection oven?

Microwave turns on & control panel is frozen. F2&PAN error codes

You have a shorting membrane keypad. If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (KHMS155LWH1 without dashes) from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
