Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Issue with my 17" Viewsonic VA1716w LCD monitor

If all the buttons on the front don't work I would beleive it was a cable that is not connected correctly. I've seen things like this happen on otherwise perfectly good equipment. It's probably an easy fix however, monitors have enough power to KILL YOU (dead not a little bit very dead) if your not sure what your doing find someone who is most things I encourage you to open up and play with but not monitors. (did I mention you could die)

Be careful

Memory recall option is Continuosly blinking on the screen and also brightness option also too..what to do with this problem

This is the exact same problem which I am facing at this moment. I opened the Case of the monitor. I saw that there are 2 small buttons with a extended rod attached which goes into the buttons on the Monitors body. I saw the Contrast button and the brightness and the Menu button are stuck. I also saw that the monitor pads and the monitor sensor board has complete rust. I think I have to change the button pads and the Monitor Board. The same thing I am seeing in your case. I think this is a cause of Excessive moisture content in the air which is causing rust and jamming of Buttons.
I think now you can get what to do.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

Brightness pop-up window on screen

The setting is programmed into the memory of the monitor. It has been set that way, sort of like a memory button for your car's driver seat. The car remembers your favorite seat position, and the monitor is remembering your favorite brightness settings.

It's been a while since I played with any settings on a CRT monitor, but I'm sure if you give it a few minutes, you will find in the menu how to set up the memory recall feature on your monitor.

good luck.

VA721/Windows 2000 - contrast/brightness settings grayed out

The monitor is probably set to sRGB under "color adjust".

Change it to 6500K, which is default, and you should be able to adjust brightness and contrast.

The Contrast screen pops on all the time

It looks like your UP button contact is demaged.
SOLUTION is to insert a piece from your business card mostly above the button to adjust it down or up. It works fine.

Memory recall

From the Users Manual for this monitor: "Memory Recall returns the adjustments back to factory settings if the display is operating in a factory Preset Timing Mode listed in the Specifications of this manual. - Exception: This control does not affect changes made with the User Color control, Language Select or Power Lock setting." When the monitor is asking "Memory Recall OK?" it either wants to initiate a settings Recall, or it's asking if the Recall was successful. In either case, the "Memory Recall OK?" message is supposed to go away when you push either button 1 or button 2. If it does this when you are adjusting settings then it's likely just doing what you told it to, even if you don't realize you told it to do that. It's also possible for one of the settings buttons to be stuck down and this is causing it to try and change the Recall settings. Push each of the buttons on the monitor and pay attention to what each one feels like as you push on it. If one of them feels different from the others, it's likely stuck. Tapping lightly on the settings buttons or on the panel beside them will usually free up a stuck button. If a button is stuck and won't loosen up by tapping beside it, you might need to pry up on the edges of the button VERY gently with the sharp tip of a pointy kitchen knife. If it's doing this when you did not touch any of the settings buttons at all, then this is likely being caused by a dendrite whisker or faulty circuit trace inside the monitor and you'll need to take the monitor to a service technician for repair. But remember to contact Viewsonic first and go to whatever Service Center that they advise, since a repair of this type may be covered under warranty. One other thing you could try before spending money on it is simply to change the Timing mode in the Windows display settings. Go to "Control Panel > Display", then select the "Settings" tab and click the "Advanced" button. Select the "Monitor" tab and change the screen timing to a different Hertz value in the "Screen refresh rate" menu box. Don't forget to save these settings by clicking "Apply" and "OK" to close all of the Windows settings windows. Hope that helps solve your problem...
