Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
We just noticed this yesterday. No mention of it in the manual except as an added feature in other models.
first thing I would suggest is a hard
reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.
Otherwise, there's been a failure of the piezoelectric transducer (beeper) or the circuit that drives it.

I have researched your microwave and I was unable to any instructions on how to mute your sound. Unfortunately you are unable to perform that operation on your microwave.
