I was think maybe there is something was wrong with the Firmware so i decided to download the new firmware that was available at Archos.com. at the white screen wen you see the white screen keep hitting no rapidly until it starts up to your regular screen. If you must try the recovery. Anything to get to the main screen. Then try putting the updated fimware into the root directory after you connect via USB. Then try rest settings.

wheb i brought my archos 605 to the store to let them fix it htey putted a parental code on it as i noticed later but because of that parental code i can't put anything on it anymore, i don't know the code

recovery code 102 screen - this error message means the the hard disk has failed - I am guessing that the unit has been dropped at some point - Sorry but it back to Archos - The UK number is 0207 949 0115

Archos.com FAQ says contact Technical support which could be a long process on the phone unfortunately.
I have entered a valid map code during the installation process with the DVD but it is refused.There might be two reasons to this:
• Your map code might only be composed of 12 characters including an underlined digit/letter.
In this case, instead of typing the underlined character, enter a “&” before the character that is underlined (ex: “2C4” becomes “2&C4”).
• If your map code has 13 digits, reinstall your GPS software using the DVD.
After inserting the installation DVD, the installer does not launch automatically. What should I do?Explore the DVD with Windows Explorer and click on GPS_Installer.exe. This will automatically launch the installer.

I bought the 605 GPS (as the bundle : The 605 and the GPS Accessory together). Do I have to use the installation DVD supplied with the device?No, you do not need to use the DVD as the GPS software and maps have already been installed and activated on the 605 GPS.
