HI,

In addition to having been a bicycle mechanic and enthusiast for a great number of years, I purchased the same Pacific bike for my daughter.

The torque drive twist shaft, is their overly technical name for the twist shifter that one uses to change between gears. Some bikes have a toggle shifter, which is a little lever to change the gears. These bikes have a shifter that twists on the handlebar to switch through the gears.

By the way, the manual would not have been helpful. They give a generalised manual with all of their bikes apparently, that have non-specific information about general assembly, lubricating different parts, tire inflation, and bike safety.

We got ours direct from the factory, and the manual that came with the bike was simply the most unhelpful publication I had ever seen.

So there you have it. If you have any additional questions, please write back.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I need an owners manual for a pacific evolution bike

Are you sure the derailer or sprocket are not bent? The next thing if not that is the cable itself is it pulling the delairer to release the gear from the gear it is in? one final is the bike just may not go into 6th gear depending on which gear you have the front sprocket in because it would pull the front sprocket to far past the crank space where the pedals are at.

The chain is broken off the bike We bought a new one but need a diagram of how to weave the chain through Thanks

The chain goes from the top of the front sprocket to the top of the rear sprockets, between the rear sprocket and the top derailleur wheel and then between the upper and lower derailleur wheels. It then goes forward toward the front sprocket. The text sketch below shows the rear sprocket, chain and derailleur.I hope this helps.

Girls 24inch glacierpoint magna bike can't raise handle bars seems like a allen type screw in middle of bar just turns and still can't lift bar does that need to be replaced or is it something else

If that allen screw just turns both directions, and it won't tighten and it won't raise up when you loosen it, then the wedge nut at the other end of that screw has already fallen off inside. Or it could mean that the screw is broken. Turn the bike upside down and see if you can remove the screw. If it is broken, the repair will be difficult, but not impossible for a bike mechanic. If the screw comes out intact, then the only thing holding the handlbar stem in place is a bit of rust. Put the bike back upright. Stand over the bike as if you were going to ride it. Grip the front wheel between your knees and twist the handlebars as if you were steering while preventing the wheel from turning with your knees. Once it breaks free, pull it all of the way out. Turn the bike over again and the wedge nut should fall out. When you reassemble, take heed of the marking on the handlebar stem so that you don't raise the stem too high. Good luck. The gears will not change at all. It seems like the part that you twist to change gears is seized on both sides. This is causing the bike to ride very slow.

Actually, it's causing you to have no gearing options. If you were Lance Armstrong the bike would move fast ;0) even with a flat tire.

Crimped, corroded shifter cables can prevent accurate shifting. I'm thinking you need a bike mechanic to look at it.

After it's all fixed you might want to view some resources concerning shifting, braking and general riding skills. It's all out there.
