Most laptop keys sit on a little "scissor" thing made of plastic. It takes great care to reseat on that has been pulled off.

You have to get the little pins into holes in one part and then snap into the grabbers on the other. ONE CAN break the assembly real easy.

Best to take this into a shop that can fix it in a minute than having to replace the keyboard.

LOOKING FOR KEYS FOR SONY PCG-71911M

You should replace the whole keyboard. I am guessing you wore the letters off of the keys. It is easy to replace and you don't have to worry about snapping off the key holds. If you are really attached to this keyboard for some reason you can find new keys at replacementlaptopkeys.com

How to open keyboard of sony vaio pcg-6rfl

Remove the Power Cord and the Battery. Turn the laptop over and start removing screws from the bottom of it. There might be screws on the bottom that hold the keyboard, normally they will have the keyboard icon by them. Once you have the screws removed Look inside the battery case to remove any screws. Sometimes there will be screws that hold the keyboard and the strip that is above the keyboard inside the battery case.

Next turn the laptop back over and open the lcd lid. Remove the strip that is above the keyboard. Be careful because there might be a cable attached to the bottom of the strip. Once the strip is removed there might be screws that it was hiding that hold the keyboard so remove them. Now you can lift the keyboard out, but be careful because there is a cable attached to the back of the keyboard.

I need to put the r key back on my laptop

Hi:
Individual keys on laptop keyboards are extremely difficult to put back on, as the attaching hardware usually breaks when the key is knocked off. A better solution is to replace the entire keyboard. They are not too expensive, about $15-20 on ebay, and not too hard to change either.
