Hi, With the information you supplied i'm going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the freezer...you should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. I have included links with pictures of what the parts you need to check are: http://romulusappliance.com/manufacturers/maytag/refrigerators/575432.JPG defrost stat http://www.hotekalliance.com/UploadFiles/2008627111553382.jpg heaters http://www.applianceblog.com/archives/EvapMotor1018185.jpg evap fan. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. If you decide to get a repair guy in should not cost you any more then $120 - $200 depending on make/model/problem Good luck & thanks for using fixya! SOURCE: REFRIGERATOR NOT COLD

I have experienced this also.

If the drain under the evaporator coils in the freezer freezes up it will cause this. Because the coils ice up. Manual defrosting with hair dryer will get working again, but if drain is stopped up it repeat.
Maybe piece of paper or food in it.

OR the defroster heater element is burnt out. Same results.

SOURCE: Freezer is cooling but the refrigerator is not cold

This setup uses a fan to push air around to distribute the cold air. It sounds as if your fan isn't running anymore.
It may not be a lot of fun to access it for replacement or lubrication which might be the problem. This type of fan motor normally uses a phosphor-bronze bearing with graphite embedded and while they shouldn't ever need oil, this type of bearing has tendency to get sticky over time eventually jamming the motor shaft.
Modern motors are 'impedence protected' so they don't 'burn up' anymore but do get hot.
What you might try is to check Sears parts section to see if your model is listed for replacement parts (they sell parts for about every US brand) and they may have an illustration of your fridge that shows you how you can access the fan.

SOURCE: GE Refrigerator-Freezer side works fine/Refrigerator side not ok

You most likely have a defrost problem. Check the inside back panel of the freezer. See if there is ice built up. If so, you have a problem with the defrost. 85% of the time, it's caused by a bad heater. It could be the termination thermostat, timer or fan. If the ice is built up. Take the panel out and defrost with hair dryer. If you want, you can now check the heater and termination thermostat. It's a closed switch that opens on the rise. If you fix it your self or not, To save your food. You can replace the panel and turn the fridge back on, it will operate correctly for 3 or 4 days. This will give you time to either get the part and fix it or for someone to get out and repair.
Please rate solution and make it worth the while to summit solutions. Thanks

I have a haier model # htq18jabww-01 and the freezer seems to b working fine but the fridge does not seem to be cold at all...any soultions??

The "Cold-to-Coldest" adjuster in the freezer steals chilled air from the refrigerator to add more to the freezer. It's a mechanical damper. Set it fully CCW to cold (warmest position). I also put duck tape over half the chilled air outlets in the freezer to increase the chilled air pressure feeding the refrigerator section. Set the thermostat in the refrigerator to 8 or 9 and the freezer works fine and everything in the refrigerator is 38F.

The refridgerator has not been cold enough, the freezer is fine what should i do?

The refrigerator itself get cold air from the freezer. There is a small opening that lets air from the freezer to go to the refrigerator area. make sure the cold air from the freezer is getting there. Sometimes there might be a restriction on this vent therefore the refrigerator is not getting enough cold air from the freezer.

Freezer side of 690 does not work (not even cool); refrigerator side works just fine.

Check the fan in the freezer department. It has to run when the door i closed. Sometimes the door switch is bad. This causes the freezer coils to ice up so the cold air does not go through the coil to cool the freezer. Unplug the power cord for 1 hour or two hours. Then plug the cord in and see if the freezer gets cold.
