My 50hp95 had the same problem; the red power light is flashing and the tv will not turn on. I unplug the power and plug it back in and the TV clicks, but the power light continues to flash red. My problem was a bad Seine module which you can bypass if you do not need to watch HD off air programming. Since I get my HD from the cable, I can bypass it. All you need to do is remove the back panel from the TV (unplug the TV first) and on the main circuit board unplug the white connector labeled PJ63A. The main circuit board is the one in the center of the TV and the PJ63A connector is the bottom white connector on the left side of the main circuit board (the label is printed in white on the circuit board under the connector). Once I plugged the TV back in it worked immediately.

You described my problem exactly, and a great description of the solution. Took the panel off, disconnected the PJ63A, and problem solved!!! Thanks!!

This worked for us too! We just had twin girls this year so we really can't afford to be spending money on TV repair or another flat screen. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this information. It is greatly appreciated!

Thank you Thank you... I dreaded the thought of going out and buying a new one. We have had this Toshiba for ~5 yrs and itis still clear and sharp. Hopefully it will last several more years. We are on cable and don't need HD off air. I am interested in the tech solution .. is there a drawing or schematic avail on line? I can check the Toshiba site but past experience was they didn't share. In any event, I cleaned the dust out of the fans and the back, re-assembled, hung it back on the wall, and it works fine.. Thanks again, Bill

I can't help but ask myself does Toshiba support offer this suggestion when customers call with the same complaint????? Guess I'll never know..........but they should.

  • Bill Helsel Oct 15, 2011

Unplugging PJ63A (after finally locating it) worked for me too! After reading horror stories on other websites from people with the same model and same problem, who were told they had a bad power supply, that replacement parts weren't available, or were quoted $1000-$3000 repair estimates, I was pretty much resigned to buying a new TV. Luckily I came across this easy solution first....THANKS!!!

50HP95 Toshiba Plasma TV No power but blinking power light

I had the same problem with my 50HP95 Toshiba Plasma TV. It would not turn on. I read online that if you unplug a connection on my TV and it turns on, it is a bad Seine board. I could not find this Seine board anywhere online. It was either out of stock or no longer available. The TV is just 5 year old. Why would they discontinue parts for it? Then I saw a video on You Tube where someone unplugged a connection in the back of his TV to fix problem. I decided to try it. I took the back off, unplugged a connection numbered PJ63A and the TV works again. So far so good. I downloaded the Service manual for this TV to find where PJ63A was.
I also called Toshiba Tech Dept. to find out if there was a chance I can cause further damage to my TV. They had no idea.
