Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone

1 Answer

Sim card causes iPhone to overheat and drains the battery.

The overheating and battery drain occurs only when I use a specific sim card. The UAE Etisalat sim card. I also cannot receive calls 90% of the time with full network coverage. The Etisalat sim card works 100% in my Nokia.
When I switch back to my Singapore Mobile One sim card, the iPhone behaves normally with no overheating and no unusual battery drain.
This phenomenon is a regular occurrence and I have clean restored my iPhone plus reseated the sim cards. My spouse's iPhone 3G S is working properly with another Etisalat sim card.

My iPhone 3G S is a factory unlocked unit bought from the Apple Store in Australia.

I've tried to lock the iPhone to my tele provider in stead of letting it search for available networks (the automatic option in settings). Seems to work. But I will also get a new sim card. Strange problem though...

There is more than an issue to cause this. 1st that some iphones are locked on a specific operators, with a contract for one or couple of years. after end of contract you can unlock the iphone at the operator and can use any sim card. 2nd the sim card it self may be damaged & cannot be read by iphone, please try it in another phone and see if it is working.
To know if your iphone is officially locked/unlocked by the model number, you can google it.

No The sim card for the older models is not the same size as the new iPhone 5. You can take your old sim card to your provider and they can make you a sim card to fit your new phone.

Sim crash samsung a107

The reason for the SIM crash is most likely to be overheating.Ensure that you are not charging your phone's battery as at the same time that you are using power-intensive applications on your phone such as playing JAVA midlets, multimedia functions(Music player, etc) as they can make the SIM card area beneath the battery compartment to overheat, causing the SIM's miniature electronic circuitry to fail.
I recommend that after such a SIM crash, remove the SIM card and the battery to let them cool down to room temperature. Carefully clean the battery contacts and the leads in the compartment to ensure that they have the least resistivity. When the battery and the SIM card have cooled down to room temperature, carefully re-insert them back into the phone and power it on again.
It's also worth noting that most Samsung phones are powered by an ARM-7 microprocessor that is often under-cooled and this may result in over-heating at the slightest overload, making the system to reboot. As stated above, the same precautionary measures will also fix these errors.

Unrecognized sim card

if the sim card is unrecognized then you need a new sim. it can happen if you switch the sim from a non-iphone to an iphone. iphones need specific sim cards and they wont work right if you switch them back and forth. you can get a new sim card by going to a store or by calling in to your provider, they can send you one for free or make sure you get one for free from a store.

My sim card causes my iphone to overheat but everything but the phone still works

Contact your provider to get the SIM Card replaced. As data is stored on this card, you do not want to wait until it fails completely.

another way to restore it would be to turn the device off, then hold down the power button and plug it into your cpu still holding the home button and it should show up in itunes
