Question about Seagate 320GB FreeAgent Pro FireWire 400, USB 2.0/eSATA Data Mover Drive Hard Drive

1 Answer

I bought a Seagate 320 and recently backed up 2,000 songs from iTunes. I had to send my computer back to HP to fix the motherboard. I got it back but am having difficulty trying to restore my songs. I am using Windows Vista. I get a message similar to 'windows is not able to locate any backup sets on F:/'. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance!

When you backed up your songs, what program or method did you use to put the backups on the hard drive in the first place. Chris

Itunes messed up my external hardrive

I doubt that iTunes really moved/reorganized files on your computer.

iTunest may have created its own "Table Of Contents", presenting a "view" of all your files.

Open "My Computer" and open your external hard-drive.
The files should be in "your" order.

Open "My Documents". Open "My Music".
The files should be in "your" order.

If iTunes really did "reorganize" your files, there's no way to "go back", because "Windows System Restore" does not automatically created time-stamped backups of your 'My Documents' folder (nor of any external disk-drive -- where would it put that much data???).

My Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB SATA Hard Drive is less than 2 years old and has crashed, any fixes?

Hard drives are only designed to last 3 to 5 years. Most hard drive manufacturers only warranty them for 1 year.
For whatever reason yours has died.

Backing up your data is imperative.

If you need to recover data from this hard drive, there are places online that you can send the drive to and they can recover the data on your hard drive. This can cost you a bundle though. If the data is not necessary, all you can do is buy a new one and reinstall your operating system.

Free Agent Go doesn't detect drive

i think you shoud first check the drivers for your usb and ugarde those .. even after this if it does not work you should take the hard drive to the service center ... or if you have bought it with in last 2-3 days you can also take it to the shop you bought it from.

Loading songs on ipod

Usb 1 is not very slow, maybe computer system is busy doing some other services which is unknown to you.

if you plan to restore computer back to original state. you should back up first the important files(personal files any files that is important to you.)

system restore is not quite good except , you have an original windows system cd enclosed in your computer. doing this; insert cd and boot the computer using the cd.

If non of those; then you should provide windows cd and reinstall your windows: doing this; insert cd and boot the computer using the cd.

just follow the onscreen instructions.

some drivers of your computer notify me with the brand , model, motherboard details. if in case.

Is this a USB drive?

Try turning off Enhanced USB support, from the Device Manager in Windows; this will allow it to be read, a little slower though.

My ipod won't play songs I bought from itunes, and it won't let me download new ones.

Unfortunately, if you did not back up your music, the songs cannot be recovered. iTunes allows for one download of a song purchased.
