OK the first link is for the DC jack repair and the second link is a service manual for your laptop. Just copy and paste them into the address bar of your browser. Be sure to save a copy for yourself as a reference. Good luck

Dell latitude d510 has no power

Please check out the following steps to confirm the real issue:
1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

I think the most likely cause is that your dell charger is broken, just try a new charger to test:

How to replace dc jack

You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix the DC Power Jack. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard which means you will have to desolder the old one and solder the new one. Be prepared to spend some time and you have to have the hands of a surgeon or you will damage the motherboard.

Latitude C640 will only run from battery not AC adapter. I have tested the AC adapter on another laptop it works fine, I have taken the laptop apart the solder joints to the plug look fine. I was just...

blubaustin, you are stating you disassembled the laptop, and physically checked each solder joint, for the DC Power Jack?

Do I also assume you checked the condition of the DC Power Jack? None of the three pins wiggle?

This part of the system checked out, I would have to assume it's failure of the Power sensor chipset.

This is not for the Latitude. Just an example of a laptop power sensor (Power I.C.),

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/460807218/ATMEGA128L_8AU_IC_AVR_MCU_128K.html

More examples,

http://easycomponents.en.alibaba.com/search/product?IndexArea=product_en&SearchText=laptop+power+ic_lap+top+power+ic&fl=y&d_pid=496042749&d_type=sp

Unsoldering, and soldering is pretty basic.
In the first example above, the top view is how the chipset sits on the motherboard.
With the metal 'legs' down. (Can be called Pins, or Terminals)

Magnification, and a bright light.
Desoldering Braid (Or Desoldering Tool)
Pencil tip 20 to 35 Watt soldering iron.
Small utility brush to clean the surface after unsoldering, along with Isopropyl Alcohol. (91 percent is best)
Soldering Stand with sponge
.030 Rosin Core solder

CAUTION!
Isopropyl Alcohol is EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE!
Use in a Well ventilated area with NO sparks or flames present.

If the chipset is not available, and/or the skills are not present, then I suggest motherboard replacement.

I have a latitude d620 i purchased used a couple of years ago. recently, my battery charger light has not been lighting unless i giggle the battery charger body. this has worked and the battery icon on...

1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.

How to replace dc power jack for toshiba p15

Take apart laptop and see what type of jack is on your system. There are two types. one is soldered on and the other is a module that connects to the motherboard with a wire connector.

If you have a soldered on type the you will need to de-solder it from the board then solder a new one onto the board. most ac jack issue just need to resolder it unless the jack itself is broken.

How do I access the DC Power Jack on a Dell Latitude C510?

I assume you mean to replace it. You need to take all the screws out of the bottom, check under the battery too. Remove the hard drive, keyboard bezel keyboard, Remove all the screws under the keyboard except the cpu heat sink. Seperate the halfs & you should be able to remove the board. Now you can solder a new jack in. Good luck!

No power at all for my Dell Latitude D505

Sounds Like From Your Description That You Need Your DC Jack Repaired/Replaced..

THe DC Jack Is the Port where Your AC Adapter Plug Plugs into on the laptop.... THis can be proprietary or non proprietary.... But Either way, the Old Faulty Jack Needs To Be Desoldered and Removed, THe Board Cleaned and a New DC Jack Soldered On.. You Will Then Be able To Power On Laptop With AC Charger and Will again Be Able To CHarge The Battery..
