Part arrived today - I installed it. Still no joy - so I guess I'm getting a new circular saw unless there is something else I can try.

I hava a 7 1/4 circular saw model # 5250. The blade broke off and we can't get the bolt loosened enough to replace the blade. Any ideas on how to get bolt off?

If you have no way to prevent the motor from turning when you try to remove the blade bolt, you are going to have to immobilize the armature to get it off. Remove the cap on the motor housing so you can remove or relieve the spring pressure on the brushes. Then remove the motor housing with the field, leaving the armature attached to the blade guard/transmission assembly. Now you can safely hold the armature while turning the blade bolt.

How to open replacement switch for 5250 skilsaw

Sometimes the wires are push fit and are held in with a sprung wire. If they are on this one try using a very fine jewlers screwdriver or stiff piece of thin wire to release the wires in the switch.

How do I install on/off switch on Skil Saw 3400

It just pushes in and out. It is held in by plastic legs on the top and bottom of the switch. Reach behind the switch and squeeze on the top and bottom legs to compress them while you push the switch out. The new one will just snap into place as you push it in. Here is a parts diagram if it helps.

How to replace saw blade on skil saw

On the side of the saw in the center of the blade, there should be a bolt to remove that will get the blade off. Some saws have a special wrench needed to remove it, but since you have a Skil, you should be able to use either a 1/2" or 9/16" wrench or socket to take it loose and switch the blade out for one of your choice. Hope that helps.
