Why is the agitator not agitating?

Is this a machine withwith an agitator & a fixed drum? If this is the case I would think that the drive belt has stretched or broken.

Sounds like the clutch is malfunctioning. Not an easy DIY job -- probably need a service call.

If it agitates, you probably need a new gearcase. If not, check the coupling between the gearcase and motor. Hope this helps!

Machine won't agitate or spin.

Its possible that the agitator that turns back and forth, to clean your clothes, is warn-out. I had the same problem with mine. If your agitator has a fabric softener piece on top of it, there should be a plastic circular clip, that you have to lift up, that removes the fabric softener piece. Once you remove that, there is a plastic cap, that covers the bolt, that secures the agitator, to the drum. After you remove the cap, you will see 4 plastic hooks, that grab to the inside lining teeth, of the agitator. If the 4 hooks are worn out or the teeth are worn out, then this is your problem of why it won't spin nor agitate. I put 2 small screws, one on each side of the clips, so that the clips stayed out, against the teeth, so that at least it would work, until you can replace the agitator. I hope this works for you.

If the agitator does not spin at all, then it is your motor coupling. If the agitator tries to spin but cannot, then it is your dog agitators.
