    Hello-

To be more clear, the tuner plays radio music on all 4 speakers so I know the speakers are not at fault. Also, when I do a test of all 4 speakers, each registers. However, when I run audio from the TV throught the receiver, the audio only comes out of the 2 front speakers and the display on the receiver only shows L/R - 2 speakers, does not include the surround.

    thanks for your help

I have a Yamaha Rx-v365 5.1 Ch A/v Home Theater Receiver Rxv365. When I use the tuner to listen to the radio, all 4 speakers play. However, when I use it for audio on the TV, it only plays the 2 front. I know all 4 speakers are working but the display only shows 2 speakers, L/R when the input is the TV...ideas?

    Thanks for the reply...

I am not using a subwoofer at the moment because I'm working towards that. Will that affect my surround sound?

Also, how do I put the receiver in a simulated surround sound mode for tv?

    I know, I'm complete barney..sorry

If this is a surround sound amp, the tv channel may not be broadcasting a surround sound signal. You may have to put the amp in one of the simulated modes like; stadium, or one of the other simulated modes that sounds best to you. Radio stations almost always broadcast in surround sound.
If you tune to a channel that is producing surround sound the other two speakers should kick on automatically.

The surround sound light will not come on unless there is a surround sound signal detected, that is how the other speakers get their signal. This is all digitally separated in the amp.

IF your tv is using an optical output some tv's will not output surround sound through the optical output because of copyright protections. Although the industry has been more lenient lately and most of the latest tv’s will output surround optical out.

In order to get the other speakers working it must detect a surround sound signal, or you can put the receiver into a simulated mode to achieve this. It will not be real surround sound but it will allow all four speakers to work,

BTW this is a 5.1 this would be a 5 speaker system with 1 subwoofer are you only using the front and rear and not the center and sub woofer?

There is a "SCENE" button on your amp, this is to rotate between the listening modes. Try this first, if this does not help let me know, i will locate a user manual and look it up for you.

Hi,

There could be 2 reasons :-

1. The speakers might be at fault. Try to use different speakers instead of 2 not working. If the New speakers would work, you need to get the other 2 repaired.

2. If that's the same result with the New one ( No sound ), there is a problem with connection. Check connection and make sure it is not loose or cut.

Let me know once done!!

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

You don't say how "TV audio" is entering the system.

My guess is you're using analog audio Out from the TV into an analog input on the Denon. One channel failing would probably be the Left Channel cable failing or not seated.

I always recommend bypassing the TV audio entirely if the programming comes from somewhere other than its own antenna, as TV audio electronics add nothing good to the process.

If you're using cable box, sat box, game, whatever, ITS audio is best sent directly to your Denon's specialized audio hardware - digitally, if possible, to preserve multichannel possibilities.

You could also run standard analog audio from the cable box to the TV analog Audio IN if you just want to watch news and weather on TV speakers without the Denon involved.

Zone 2 on m denon receiver will play tuner but not tv.has happened before but not sure how i fixed it

Trace your TV audio back to its source. Where's it coming from? Is there some control (volume) involved?

My $.02. You should be getting TV-related audio from its source. NOT the TV itself. TV audio componentry and speakers are bare bones basic.

Rear speakers not working

Your FM tuner will only generate sound from the front sepakers. CD's, Tape, and I guess mp3 player, as well, will only play through the front speakers.
I've included a link for the manual. The audio on this rig is pretty complex. read through the info, especially pages 11,12,13, and play with the audio controls.

No sound out of right main when watching DVR/TV or VHS

When watching TV or VHS the sound should be stereo and therefor come out of the the 2 front speakers. I suspect you now have sound out of the left front and the center speaker which indicates you connected the center speaker to the right front speakerterminal and the right front to the center terminal.

Just check if all speakers are connected to the correspondent speakerterminal.

If this is correct and the problem persists, try to connect another speaker to the right front terminal to see of the terminal or speaker is not working properly. If another speaker does work on the same connection, your right speaker might be damaged which might not be heard when listening to 5.1 because of the surround sound.

NO sound on Zone 2

Did you use the same terminals or two different ones to make the connections?

May 18, 2008 | Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver

2 zone setup

Consult the user manual. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded free at Denon's website. Two of the speaker oututs serve multiple functions. Hookup and setup need to be checked. What you want to do is possible as long as you're only using a 5.1 setup indoors.
