How do you flash a Coleman Powermate 3500 generator? Runs fine; no electrical output

See some of my responses to other peoples generator problems.
If you have no or very little electrical output, then you have overloaded the generator by placing a demand for too many amps from too many appliances for the size of the generator. You will have blown a capacitor, resistor, or similar item. Someone with a good electrical background will need to diagnose the problem and find the blown part.

If you ever get a solution, please pass it on as I have the exact same unit with the same problem

Hi Paul, This might be a simple fix. It's called flashing the field. Here are 2 links on how to do it. I strongly recommend using the electric drill method.http://www.perr.com/tip16.html and also http://www.endtimesreport.com/dead_gen.html If the generator was working fine and then it was stored for a long time you will loose the residual magnetic field. To avoid this start the generator once a month and put a load on it for about 15 to 20 minutes. Good luck, Michael Burke.

Coleman Powermate 5000 no electricity, runs fine

Hello;
Take a look at your outlets. Some of these units use pretty cheap outlets and short out. You will know if it is bad when you look at it. Hope this helps.
Thanks;

No electric power generated from my Coleman Powermate Maxa 5000W.

the gensets on coleman generators are definately nothing to brag about but i would start by checking the windings and make sure the brushes have a clean armature to ride on
